i wonder why americans are going so mad about taking power away from oil corporations. Also, funny how nobody cares about the fucked up genetically modified food you idiots eat every day

Yup! Not to mention the fact that the genetically modified crops are cross pollinating with nearby regular crops, causing them to also become genetically modified.
What is the danger in that?
Genetically modified seeds CANNOT reproduce! So guess what? Every season we lose more and more unmodified crops. You want to talk about big oil? Their are only two or three places where you can buy genetically altered seeds.
So forget the energy supply, the world is heading to a place where the only place we can ever get seeds to grow, is from a handful of corporations that create those modified seeds. (Again, these seeds do not reproduce on their own.
That is scary.
It is disturbing man. Crazy shit those people are doing to lower costs. Even though they have a market share pwnage of about 30%... each company.
If it isnt stopped or somehow contained, the World will eventually have to purchase it's seeds from a few select sources that create the modified seeds.
Genetic seeds do two things:
The cant reproduce
They cross pollinate with traditional crops causing those seeds to become unable to reproduce.
With just a few companies having the ability to make seeds (since traditional seeds are becoming infected) those companies will hold the world's food supply in their hands, and we will pay whatever we have to in order to get those seeds.
That's how I see it being so bad.

plus, they are unable to reproduce because scientists didn't want them to replicate. couldn't they easily fix the genes so it will reproduce?
How can something unnaturally created, naturally create?
Plus, why would they want them to reproduce, when the scientists work on grants backed by the very companies and govt's that stand to profit from this?
There used to be some 60 or 70 varieties of some food available in the markets (lettuce and tomatoes for example), and this has been reduced in most cases to less than 10 commercially available varieties. We are losing our genetic diversity in favor of mass produced flavorless crops.
because genes = another language. you can do whatever the hell you want as long as something can interpret it.
if you have 2 plants and 1 has round rough leaves and 1 has smooth leaves. you can identify the genes that codes for smooth leaves and make the rough leaf plant produce seeds that result in smooth leaves. This doesn't mean these new genetically altered plants can't reproduce.
I don't see how a lot this stuff is so unnatural(except for maybe the insecticides res genes). If you wait long enough and through natural selection, you could probably get organic bananas the size of today's genetically altered bananas. Look at corn back in the day... it only had like 5 kernals until primitive people started cultivating it.
