At our meet market table yesterday, we got quite the reaction from WF members regarding the full page ad we've placed in Revenue. I'm only posting this because it was quite unexpected and I was surprised with the reactions. If you are at the show, stop by and check it out - it would be interesting to see if all of you thought the same thing.

At first it made me laugh then I thought about the motivation behind it and the points which were implied.

Attacking a competitor on a personal level is lame. I'm with EWA and although I've yet to run traffic with them I respect what they do and the way they do it.

It tells me more about the company flinging the mud and it's obvious how threatened it feels by the service and approach offered up by the birdman and crew and other boutique style nws.

God I sound like a fanboy or something but I couldn't give a shiiiiiiiiit.

In all honesty, we weren't targetting anyone specifically other than the generic slimeballs in this industy. That's why I was genuinely surprised with the reaction we were getting.

If people are interested, I can certainly post the photo tonight when I get back to the room.

Meh, I don't really see any implied distinction of the guy in the photo being Ryan Eagle. It just looks to me like a typical CPA company advertisement comparing their company to a pseudo "loan shark".

Ergo: more of a shark, less of a bird.

MB one of the TOP networks out there, been there for years and would never 'bash' a competitor. I am sure many other WF members can agree with me on this.

^^ What he said! I don't really relate Ryan with his Gangsta image but rather the number he is pulling (and I do have sources confirm his numbers from some affiliate networks, don't ask me how).

But from the general look of things, this is exactly what the whole affiliate industry has basically come down to - dealin' and wheelin'. And that is what I relate to in this ad...

Hey, I am not complaining -- god knows what all people call me when I send them back the domain offers... or when I peddle other stuff.

I loled when I saw that picture, but I'm currently using EWA and not MaxBounty because they have an offer that is working for me that no one else has. Not sure if this is right but since I haven't gotten a response from EWA I'll post it. After I asked some questions about if some education offer ad text was allowed or not my representative there threatened to cancel my account and has not responded to any of my emails afterwards. The representatives I worked with from MaxBounty have always been professional.

That's funny cause the email response was 'I had to just fight to keep your account from being terminated...' implying a couple people discussed it. The ad text I sent was not compliant, but I hadn't even sent any traffic for that offer - I just noticed the ad and wanted to ask. MaxBounty has at least one problem with their network as well. Every night their servers stop working for 15-30 minutes, and it's been going on for at least a year. So I don't think it makes sense for them to make an ad like that when they could be spending the money and time on fixing their server issue; even though the ad is funny.

I'll keep this short and simple: I have MaxBounty in my target now, you just dug your own grave - and at your age that's probably not a good idea. Intended or not, this was a planned attack. If it was not an attack towards me - then who were you targeting? Is your business doing that bad?

I was under the assumption that when we did do business, it was good business. Nobody trusts your "proprietary" technology and I encourage anyone to split test between us and come back with who you trust.

But shiiit, I'll take it as a compliment. Haters gonna' hate.

Ryan, as much as you want to take this personally, I think you are reading way too much into this. Do you really think we'd spent thousands to develop a print ad, and thousands to place it in a trade magazine just to target you? Stop flattering yourself. If we were looking to specifically target another network, there are significantly bigger targets that we'd have our eyes on.

Sure, we could have gone with a generic "stack of cash" style ad, but why bother? Successful ad campaigns require creative that people stop and take notice of, and tell their friends about. We found an image that fit that bill and it seems to have worked. If you feel offended and/or targetted, that certainly wasn't our intention and I do apologize. But don't turn this into a "MaxBounty vs. Eagle" thing, because it isn't.

But something tells me you're enjoying the attention and will continue to play it this way.

When I got to the meet market table, Jessica told me that a whole bunch of wickedfire guys had stopped by, were having a good laugh and taking pictures. I was pretty surprised because who takes pictures of print ads? I figured other people might get a laugh and truth be told, I wanted to lure some people to the booth. Yeah, I admit it's a bit of self-promotion, but I thought the payoff of a laugh would be worth it.

When I first saw the ad, before this thread was made, I liked it. I viewed it as kind of a shot at Ryan, and EWA, but that's business and nothing personal was said. The ad is very well written, has good graphics, and is overall very impressive.

I actually went over to MaxBounty and looked around a bit and was going to sign up but didn't have enough time.

Then this thread was created for seemingly no reason except for shameless self promotion.

...If the ad was that good other members would've posted about it. In fact some guys took pics and Tweeted them. It was inevitable that someone would make a thread about it eventually. But instead, by starting this thread yourself, you look like a douche trying to gain a little publicity with those of whom aren't at ASW. (Which lets face it are those of whom more then likely can't afford to go there.)

All in all this was a fail by Steve and I'm sure MaxBounty, in the view of a lot of people, has been taken down a notch.

I viewed it as kind of a shot at Ryan, and EWA, but that's business and nothing personal was said. The ad is very well written, has good graphics, and is overall very impressive. I actually went over to MaxBounty and looked around a bit and was going to sign up but didn't have enough time. Then this thread was created for seemingly no reason except for shameless self promotion. ...If the ad was that good other members would've posted about it. In fact some guys took pics and Tweeted them. It was inevitable that someone would make a thread about it eventually. But instead, by starting this thread yourself, you look like a douche trying to gain a little publicity with those of whom aren't at ASW. (Which lets face it are those of whom more then likely can't afford to go there.) All in all this was a fail by Steve and I'm sure MaxBounty, in the view of a lot of people, has been taken down a notch.
