So, was the dickroll for general traffic or just affiliate IPs? If it really was getting traffic and that was for everyone, I'm sure they appreciated it. "Get Justin's Abs by getting fucked in the ass."

Then wouldn't that list also include some useful bots such as adwords ips and pretty much every account manager in the industry?
Plus that still seems like an awfully high number considering thread view counts.

The list was probably made from his sig on wf (which he posted about), his blog, and cakes chat. So to make it more narrowed down and not have the bots and stuff. It would be registered users on WF, posted comments on NickyCakes, and people on #cakes.

I'd be surprised to learn nickycakes.com got more than 15k unique visitors over the past year, let alone 150k lol.

Probably high count because the majority of broadband users in the US are on a dynamic IP address and are constantly being reassigned new IP's.

Blocking 150k+ IP's just seems like you are doing more harm than good when IP addresses are always changing. If they were all static it would be way more effective.

Isn't this kind of like the whole Shoemoney thing?

Oh noes the product doesn't work!!1!!1! Or in this case the product just has some flaws to it. Obviously the product isn't targeted towards those of whom know more advanced ways of hiding their sites and protecting them - it's meant for the noobs who have no clue how to protect their pages and Nicky's tool is better than nothing.

Like a previous poster said you can reverse engineer a lot of things to find LP's. But in the end what it comes down to is your traffic, your money, your conversions. And stealing others landing pages isn't going to teach you how to write copy and succeed the conversions of the sites of which you jacked.

It's a zero sum game. In the end you gain nothing but an initial cash burst (maybe). Focus on skills like copywriting so you don't have to worry about always stealing someones LP.

Initial post was clearly made out of spite, maybe deservedly so. Outing the LP wasn't cool, just say what the problem is and how to find LP's and people will figure it out if they want too. Anyone can just go site:justinsabs.com and get the cached version.

Anyway, whatever. Nicky will make a lot of money off of it, maybe not from the more knowledgeable guys, and noobs will still fail over and over.

No big deal.

Wouldn't surprise me if he paid off blog owners for IP's, his own affiliate sites, and then de-dupped and filtered.

I meant knowledgeable as in not knowing better ways to hide their LP's and protect them - doesn't directly coincide with income, PPC experience, or success.

Maybe was the key word anyway.

He could easily get the 150k ips from the sig image in wickedfire probably. And probably (oh noes) sigs on warrior forum and dp which would be more useful cause those idiots couldn't figure out how to bypass the system in 30 seconds.

Nickycakes..

What a complete joke? Ripping off noobs.
You fucking make posts about uber and others for making wack ass products and ripping off noobs.

Your product was just shown how anybody with some knowledge can make it fail. So in the end it is just for ripping off noobs

Just like all of the other products that you bash and your doing the same thing.

You got pwned by emo, sad.

There is the basics to the LPlockdown. (Nickycakes removed the post, but Google Cache still has it) - Random commenters on Uber's blog.

Yep, that's the extremely watered-down version of one part of the tool, minus the most important part, our affiliate blacklist.

I'd say not quite knowledgeable enough if they are paying you for the privilege of putting your script on there page.

This will be a seriously nice racket for you if you get people that runs a little volume. Brilliantly done sir.

This product can make him a ton of money without the fees or stealing anyone's LPs or traffic sources. If you don't know how, good.

I have no problem with the service, I think it can be quite useful actually. However I do think Nickycakes is a huge hypocrite--had John Chow/Tyler Cruz/XYZ make money blogger came out with a similar product Cakes would probably devote a blog post ripping it into shreds.

But go 'head Cakes get ya dough.

My .02 cents.

FUCK that! This is one of the most annoying things I have come across in AM. Everytime a douchebag like amit mehta coms out with a turd of a product, other douches spam/email the fuck out of everyone telling them to buy it. And when one of the other douches comes out with a product of their own, the 'favor' is repaid by going back to the same old circle jerk.

That's not professionalism, it's a variant of collusion. I say analyse, criticize and rip to shreds every single product when it comes out so that the discerning public can make up their minds for themselves.

P.S. For the record, this isn't about Nicky's product. Just the idea of everyone automatically embracing each other's products without any criticism.

Cakes fosters a very shrewd yet narcissistic readership of our industry. Plus he's got a lot of product owners looking to return the favor.

He had to have seen this one coming

If they hadn't disabled IMG bb/html tags we too could be making our own ip lists.

we can only view member ips and wickedfire only has 58k members. So its highly unlikely and would only be possible if all the active members used a lot of different ips and devices to login over a very long period of time. Even then you wouldn't come up with that high of a result.

The whole affiliate ip list is still bothering me on several levels.

1. How do you get a 150k unique ips targeted to affiliates? Certainly not a blog or a sig stuff. The views wouldn't be big enough and even if he sig stuffed his img to collect ips the entire time he was on wf and dp he still wouldn't have 150k. Only complete access to a large forum or network would give him that many.

2. Why the hell would you want to block a 150k ips on a lander you're paying money to buy traffic to? Affiliates change ips just as much as regular internet users do so you'd get a lot of regular folks especially since they use a lot of different isps. If an affiliate got on to whereever you were scraping the ips from at a conference such as Affiliate Summit boom you just blocked most of an entire vegas hotel. Same with airports and schools. You'd be redirecting A LOT of people that aren't even affiliates and the real affiliates you did manage to block would know instantly that they've been redirected. No affiliate that has money to spend taking your ppc traffic is going to fall for a cloak.

3. How filtered and scrubbed is the list and how accurately would it be possible to scrub it. You couldn't do it. Eventually a few hidden adwords/ysm/bings bot ips would get through and the moment you cloaked them your campaign would get killed. unless the scrape was done after a login of some sort which brings back trouble point #1.

Anyways. I'm out of the drama but that aspect of it is just bothering the crap out of me.

It is funny how this suddenly appears today with this fiasco.

and to Deliguy above, I am sure between 10 forums, you could gather a great number of IP's.

BAHAHAHAHAH. Hilarious. Nice find.

I wondering if a de-modding is in order.

I can't imagine the founding fathers must be too happy especially after this new rule: External Images in Signatures

Maybe he paid Shoemoney for a list of DP users' IP addresses (He's a mod over there still, correct?).

But regardless, what's the deal with this? Ubercamp gets released, Nickycakes takes a horrific shit all over it. LP Lockdown gets released, Sup3rnova takes a horrific shit all over it.

If you would mind your own businesses, the product should speak for itself. Why does your opinion matter in someone else's business decision. Seriously, everyone complaining about this seems like someone I would never go into business with.

The immaturity of some of the people on here (and this isn't the typical sarcastic WF immaturity) is shocking, especially with how popular some members are in the affiliate world.

And Nick, if you did in fact stuff the forum through your signature, and then use our IP's for your personal gain, that's pretty low. A stunt like that should lead to someone being stripped from their moderator status. Any normal member caught doing anything like that, if it were possible, would be banned without question.

What makes you better than the rest of us?
