Apparently eTrade is selling all their savings accounts to DiscoverBank as of an email they sent out 2 hours ago, which means it's time for a new set of savings accounts.
Any recommendations? I was looking at ING or HSBC. |

I recommend FNBO Direct (https://www.fnbodirect.com/01d/html/en/)
Easy app process, easy to transfer funds, ATM card, etc.

When I moved my accounts from Wamu, it caused a clusterfuck at ING Direct when an auto-debit tried to pull money from my checking at ING with backup funding at Wamu, thus hitting me with a $25.00 NSF fee. I called ING Direct and calmly explained the situation, and how I had never had an NSF fee on ANY account, etc. and the customer service rep was a total asshole. I asked to speak to a Supervisor, who apologized, but said they didn't have the authority to wave a stupid $25.00 fee. Long story short, they wouldn't budge and I said, "Fuck you guys. I referred all of my clients to you when I owned a mortgage company, and over $25.00 you're going to lose me as a client. Go fuck yourselves." and I closed all my accounts. All this was MY fault, but the fact that they wouldn't try to help me pissed me off enough to change banks.

How long between a transfer and funds availability? With my ING Direct account if I were transfer money today it wouldn't be available until sometime in 2012 after the angry mayan gods have destroyed the earth.

Check out Digital Federal Credit Union (DCU): Personal & Business Banking Services They allow you to deposit checks from your computer/scanner at no cost, and they work with Quickbooks online.

I would love to use USAA and I actually opened a checking account with them since they let me, but since I'm not an active or retired service member I'm not eligible to use the deposit at home feature on the iPhone - pretty crappy. Actually my dad was in the service, but he wasn't a USAA member afaik so I don't think I qualify.

Their online transfers also seem fragile, so this may not be a good account if you need to move your monies in/out a lot. |
