And helps protect them in the anti-trust game. Unfortunately, due to a poor understanding of monopoly, big firms have to prop up competitors even when they are obviously superior, to avoid being broken up by government anti-trust regulators. An ideal scenario is for Google to own 55% of the search market, and for YaBing to own another 35-40%. That keeps competitors out as the monopoly, becomes a duopoly. They both trade share as a shell game, to keep the regulators off their back.
The Ford, Chrysler and GM perfected this model over decades. For anyone who is interested in better understanding what I mean,
