On the firing line
Here's the deal, a friend of my wife's has a daughter that is dying. Her friend Julie, not only has to deal with losing her daughter at any given time, but she's going through a nasty divorce, trying to work two jobs to make ends meet, etc. Basically, she has a lot of life challenges that you an I would never want to have to deal with.

She's behind on almost all of her bills and needs help.

I've got a blog setup and ready to go, just need to finish the initial post, get some affiliate offers setup on the sidebar, create a page for advertisers to contact her (me, I'll be administering it), and get things in place so that traffic can melt the server (hopefully).

What do I need from you? Diggs, blog posts, anything that you can think of to help get the word out when this launches. I'm not asking anybody here to donate money. If you want to, you can do that on the site after it launches, there will be a donation page set up for that. Also, the affiliate account is in HER name, on Copeac's system. So, for any surfers that complete email / zip submits or offers, the money will go straight to Julie.

What am I getting out of this? Nothing. I have one link to my blog from in her blogroll, and thats it. Basically, I get that good feeling for helping someone.

If you are willing to digg this, once it's up or blog about it, please post something here. Also, if you are part of other forums, please spread the word.

I will put the URL up here as soon as I finish. Hopefully, it will be later this evening or tomorrow at the latest.

On behalf of Julie and Christy - Thanks for your help!

Thanks from me too.

Somewhat offtopic, but it would be cool to see maybe a monthly cause that we decide on as a forum that we turn into 'our' project. This would be an awesome way to build the image of this forum as one that comes together to support a worthwhile cause, as well as showcase our skills. I could see some good press releases come out of this haha

Cool. Should be ready for diggers and bloggers in a few hours. Will update you as soon as I can.

/edit/ I meant to add, if anyone wants to put Julie's super affiliate link in their sig, that would also help. I'm changing my Copeac link to hers.

Digg - Christy needs help

Okay, site is ready. Please blog, digg, stumble, whatever to help. I am not making a dime on this. ALL money generated through PayPal donations, advertising and affiliate offers goes straight to Julie.

New development, her scumbag soon to be ex-husband put a freeze on her bank account because she had not made a house payment for two months! Well, yeah, she can't get very many hours at either place she works and if Christy gets sick she has to leave work to take her to the hospital.

So, please, please, help in anyway that you can.

Thanks!

How about a big olde custom donate button for the bottom of the about page? It could sell much harder than the text link to the donations page.

Mike, If you like the idea give me the dimensions and I will cook up a button that matches the look and feel of the site (tomorrow).

Thats absolutely beautiful, not the fact that a child is dying, but the fact that you are going out of your way to help. I would still love to get a few charitable projects rolling, but I have just been to busy.

I commend you for being an outstanding human being and wish the child and her family the best.

Dugg It. Only the Second thing I've ever Dugg...

Try Chipin.com for a very nice and very free paypal/credit card donation widget. It helped me raise some money for the environmental blog in my sig.

Dugg and I'm sending the story to all my contacts with blogs to help get the word out.

Thanks everyone! So far, she has recieved about $65. My wife's on the phone with Julie right now. We're trying to help her figure out how to navigate the intrawebs. LOL!

Anyhow, she is very thankful for everyone's help. As am I.

I appreciate the kudos, but I'm really not doing anything special. Thanks anyhow.

DrHowe: thanks for the tip! Very cool plugin!

I'm going to add the site to del.icio.us, stumbleupon, etc.

Thanks again for all the help, Julie is crying her eyes out with happiness. I never thought that $65 could do so much! Anyhow, leave a comment too, she's reloading the page just dying to respond to a comment.
