Please Help lsass.exe system error problem - WickedFire - Affiliate Marketing Forum

Everytime I turn my computer on Windows begins to boot but then an error
message appears that reads as: lsass.exe system Error and it says "An
invalid parameter was passed to a service or function." I press ok or cancel and my comp just boots up again and goes through the same cycle.

I searched for a solution but all the info I could find was from 2005 or earlier. I'm thinking there must be an updated solution to the problem. I'm running Windows XP on the computer with the problem.

Anyone have experience or suggestions with this issue.

Is it getting to the point where you are logging into windows?

You installed or made any big system changes since the last reboot?

Haha that's funny, the same thing just started happening on my laptop (just the error, no restart)...

Mind you I don't do anything on my laptop so I figure that it's microsoft doing something stupid and norton screwing around...

Needless to say I figure it'll either fix itself soon enough or I'll just always hibernate my computer from now on.

most likely you infected your pc with the sasser virus.

stop the shutdown process and type in "shutdown -a" into the command line.

No, it happens on the blue "windows is starting up" screen

And I have not installed or made any system changes since the last reboot.

How do I stop the shutdown process. The only thing I can do is click ok to the system error or cancel it. But then it just keeps repeating the process.

Who ever provides me with an answer that fixes the problem I will sign up under your affiliate link for Hydra, XYZ, or one of the other big CPA guys. I'm no baller but I might be able to make you a few bucks every month.

to get this right: are you able to startup the pc at all? or does it revert to reboot each and every time?

"shutdown -a" prevents the pc from shutting down after you logged on. this is to buy you time to get the system cleaned by an antivirus scanner.

however, there is no way to get into the system if the error occurs before startup, as lsass.exe is the security system component responsible for the sign-on process itself.

I press power on the PC, Windows XP starts to load, then it shows the error message. My options are to press ok or cancel. Once I press ok or cancel the process starts all over. Windows XP starts to load then the error pops up.

I never get to a point to log into my windows account with a password.

You could try booting in safe mode, f8 during start up. If you can get in then run a virus check. (if you haven't already)

Thanks I tried safemode but before I could do anything like try to log in an error comes up saying:

"When trying to update a password the return status indicates that the value provided as the current password is not correct."

After doing that, it will just keep rebooting itself and showing the above message over and over.

That probably means that your password file has become corrupted. By far the easiest way to fix this is to do an over install of windows, you shouldn't lose any files.

When it asks for you to create a user then use a name that has never been used before and you should be good to go.

Have you tried to boot in the Last Known Good Configuration after pressing F8 during startup?

Thanks for the ideas but I had to fucking reinstall windows XP and of course like an idiot I didn't back up any of my shit on that comp. Just another lesson to back your shit up.
