So these have been dead for months, and nobody new can join them. Anything new going to be done with them, or released to the general WF users, or anything? Been wondering for a while

well, as far as I remember it used to require 1000 posts and 1 year on the forum to be able to subscribe to them, but I don't see it.

That section was mostly for case studies and occasional dick+fart jokes; the last one ended when most in there moved on to other things. Honestly, there's better information in the out-in-the-open threads like "No Excuses" .

PPL posted things in there that are not particularly interesting, but not the kind of thing you'd want open to the web- for the same reason you wouldn't want to give up your SSN on a form unless you really had to.

Agreed. Don't sweat it guys, it was a good idea at the time, but like many good ideas it didn't get the momentum that everyone hoped for. I think the most recent post is from 2008.
