| Suggestion Box Have feedback on how to make the forum better? Well, chances are pretty good we won't read it, because this is just here for show to pretend that we "care". But maybe by some chance one of our mods will be bored enough, look at it, and use the idea. |

The problem with the reputation is that a single negative rep will drop you tens of millions of points. There doesn't seem to be any point to that.
Why not use a weighted system like digitalpoint where it not only costs rep to give rep but each rep counts for +- 1 point for every 100 points of repuation you have? |

As far as I know, the rep system here is weighted by the member giving the rep.
That way, a respected member of the community giving you +rep can lift you into a high rank easily (mening you impressed someone "important") The other way round works as well. ![]() ::emp::

Cool I've actually only got one neg rep but it was by mistake, the user who gave me a neg sent me a PM right after saying he was sorry and he didn't realize that I was actually contributing, anyway he told me to forward the message to a mod to have it removed.
Apparently though mods can't delete a neg rep, but I was lucky enough to get a +rep from Jdog on another thread which pretty much canceled out the neg, since then I've gotten 8 more positive reps to equal 1 neg and 9 positive. Why am I telling you all of this? Simple, if you are hear to learn and contribute your knowledge then you should never have a problem with the way the system is set up, but if you are here not to contribute and try to get people to give you valuable information without anything in return then well you'll end up with your neg rep.

Unless someone gave you bad rep for no reason. If someone has bad rep and I am about to do a deal with them I always look at all the posts of a member first, Then I take the username and google it, see what other places they might post at with the same username, and I do the same if they list a email or website in the user profile, because if they are shady you will find something, or if they are attacked with bad rep for no reason then you will also find out. |
