How about let us choose by our location?
We had 70 degrees here last week in AZ, so I'd vote for a spring niche, but I don't think NY will be thinking spring any time soon. Colorado could have spring for weeks before all the snow that is piled up melts.

jan - spring is exactly what many of us NYers are thinking about especially with 3 feet of snow dropped today :( by the time these blogs take off, it'll be spring :)

i must have missed something.

where's the 'group project' part of this??
is everyone gonna pool their money together at the end or something?

(sorry, im lost)

Easy. You buy and start up what you need. We will walk you through it all, and give you pointers and help out. We aren't going to sit there and pay for you to make money, so you need to take the first step of being serious and create the blog and whatnot. Sorta like a mini-tutoring session. Just report back everyday with news.

Any chance of putting this in a custom section? If multiple people are doing this and reporting every day, its gonna get really confusing really fast trying to follow, especially with random comments interjected. Wondering if there's any way to keep things a bit cleaner for better readability for someone reading through for the first time.

I'm in. Sounds fun. I'll have a WP blog and domain set up tomorrow. I need to stop lurking and join in more conversations here anyway. I've just been getting too tied up in my 9-5 and not my online income here lately. Big mistake, since I plan on quitting that by this summer.

I just started a personal blog a few days ago, its my first time with one. Ill report back with the latest events and waht i learn.

Jon,

I know this i a newb question, but I've never used the blogger sites. I always just installed WP on my own server. Do we set up an account like keyword.bloggspott.com then create another site under our domain or do we use our domain for this?

What you need:
- Wordpress or Blogger account
- Your own domain
- Cheap hosting
- Custom layout
- Paid content (or you can write your own to cut costs and stay unique)
- Adsense/YPN account
- Ad network campaign for your niche topic (optional)

Just use wordpress and your own domain. Jon said he was giving everyone a week to prepare so you have ample time to learn the ins and outs of wordpress, how to set it up on your own server, and how to set it up with a theme of your choice.

**edit** I just reread your post and saw that you know how to install wordpress. Just go with that on your own domain. I never trust free hosting or free blog networks for anything that I want to put money in my pocket.

So does the blog have to be seasonal? I gather that because it's a Winter Case study.

Anyways count me in. I have a domain with wordpress set up on it but I keep changing or going onto other projects before I get anything going with it.

I want to show some of you how easy it is to make money online, especially by season. So let's do a bit of a group project and keep the information up to date, day by day here so others can also learn and benefit.

If you're up for the challenge, I will give everyone up to a week to decide or get ready for this project and then we will begin, step by step, day by day, for approx 1 month to get you on your way to making money online. These are conservative goals and don't be ashamed if you can't meet them, all it takes it drive/effort and time really.

Budget:
- $100-$150 per month

Goals:
- Have a blog up and running within a week or less.
- Hire a content writer (or do it yourself)
- Have at least 1 new blog post every day for a month
- Make at least $200/mo with new blog by month 2.
- Generate at least 100 uniques a day via SE's by month 3.

Good niche topics to choose from:
- Tax season (businesses in March, consumers in April)
- Cold/Flu season remedies/medicines
- Winter sports (skiing, snowboarding, ice fishing, hunting)
- Winter vacations
- Winter accessories (shovels, sleds, salt)
- Fashion (gloves, coats, scarves)
- Jobs (ski instructors, ice skating rinks, shoveling snow)

Um..isn't that called building a website? Except you kinda overcomplicated it.

Not to be a dick, but itsn't that called building a website? Except you kinda overcomplicated it.

Yes it is, and if you read the forums, and older posts you will see a lot of people are new to this, and most have to hire people to make webpages, graphics ect, this also is to show people the process needed to make money this way, which in turn lets the people make there own process out of the lessons learned here.

You might know how to design websites, and it might seem easy to you, but its not to others.

I myself know how to design sites, but this is just more knowledge to gain,
its like my boy who is a big named producer, he takes piano lessons still, yet he produces hits all the time. You can never learn to much

just my 2cc's

ill :anon.sml: now

Yeah..but it's drawing from the beginning. Step by Step. Believe it or not but there are people out there that don't even know the basics, not me, but this is a good start for someone that wants to try and make money online but doesn't know where to start.

I presume from what he posted that once you have everything going in a week they will start helping out when you report back everyday on how to do something with your site.

I know how to build a site already. But why spend 150 a month though? I spend only 8 a month for hosting and my site gets traffic (although not much).

We spend money here to make money

Lets say we spend $150 that brings us in 2500 unique hits from MSN, GOOGLE , YAHOO ect paid search

Out of that you convert 31% of that traffic @ $5 - $20 each

Add that up, this is why that is needed to be spent, dont live in the past like all the WH forums where they pray for small traffic for free, when the people who make money spend money, thats how it works with any type of biz

I gather the intent of this is to not build a site. That's just the first step and he just simply gave the guidelines/goals to aid people in getting one set up in a week.

What they will do here is show you how to get more traffic and capitalize on it.

Say you can build a site but can't write articles worth shit ~ take that $150 and pay someone to write you some articles which in turn will bring you more traffic and we all know traffic is king! :p
