An unfortunate side effect of the low barrier of entry for new networks that's been in place for a couple years now. These new networks have no clue how to prevent/detect fraud, and grab all their offers from other networks, who in turn are probably grabbing their offers from other networks as well. The shit leads flow upstream for a few weeks until a merchant gets pissed enough to not pay. Somewhere between that merchant and the last network in the line a massive payment is withheld and the network not getting paid can no longer make affiliate payments.
There is list which listing close to 700 (!!!) CPA networks, who needs that much and where to get all the traffic to send to all of them ?I totally agree and even though i operate a new network and appreciate my start up costs being lower than they would have been 5 years ago I still definitely see the problem this low barrier is creating. It's pretty bad. I have to point out though, its not just new networks. Just this month WF alone has seen mass no payment threads for a lot of veteran networks including, azoogle, tattomedia and even copeac. While we're talking about low barriers of entry I have to also point to the entry point for AM's who encourage garbage traffic and especially the low entry to become an advertiser. It's creating a lot of distrust all over the place.
