I'm heading out to ASW for my first conference and I was wondering if everybody was staying at the Rio?

I have a friend that is staying at the Mirage at the same time so I wouldn't mind booking a room there and just taking a taxi, but I'm not sure if that would turn into a huge hassle or not.

Any input is appreciated,

Josh

I've heard booking in the hotel for the actual event is worth it for when you need to change or grab something. I'm staying at the Rio as well.

im staying at the Venetian right now and it's very nice, but seems too far from the conf.

would Palms be the nicest place that's close?

Yep, Rio. The only other place in Vegas I've stayed was the working mans hotel, The Excalibur.

The Rio is a step up from that place, right? Dear gosh, I hope so.

Staying at Rio too. Never stayed there, but last year I wished I did. Fucking hated driving up to the hotel for a nap and change.

Depends on how much time you plan to spend at the conference but it will likely just become a big hassle going back and forth.

I don't understand why a lot of you guys are bashing the Rio. I've stayed at a lot of places in Las Vegas, probably literally half the (larger) casinos there in the strip's vacinity, and the Rio's really not bad. I had a basic suite while I was there last year and it was pretty nice. It's no Venetian or Wynn but it's definitely not a shit hole like the Excalibur or Sahara.

I had a crappy suite at the Palms over the summer. So if your thinking about the Palms I would say just stay at the Rio, unless you want to get one of the really nice Palms suites or stay a little bit further away in the nice Palms Place rooms. The Palms Place is really cool. Palms in general is a much cooler environment than the Rio though.

I'm staying at the Rio. It's cheap, I got it for like $60 a night, and I don't want to have to deal with taking taxis back and forth to the strip or taking the shuttle buses.
