I saw that and think the guy went a little overboard. He kept rehashing the sames hit over and over across three pages.

I don't think it's right for people to lie on their landing pages, but a few of the offers I've seen have right under the form and button "This is a trial. By submitting this form you are agreeing that if you do not cancel within 30 days you will be charged x.xx". People need to learn to read and quit bitching.

i love how long it takes the MSM to "investigate" this stuff. By now that same picture has been seen from facebook ads (no longer even running) probably 10 million times.

if you ever wonder how misunderstood our industry is:

"Intriguingly, all of the ads I've seen link to only the gatekeeper blog sites. None of them links directly to the Web sites where you actually sign up for the shady grant software and its onerous subscription. It's as though they're the warm-up con artist who greases your wallet for the main act."

Intriguingly!

I just saw this ad right next to the story.

$37,383 Stimulus Checks
It's Official. The Gov Is Giving Out Billions. I Just Got $37,383.

Is it just me, or is the mainstream really starting to catch up to wtf we're doing? I reckon it's going to bite some of you in the ass, so keep laughing.

I wonder if anything can really be done to those promoting the offers with fake identity blog landers?

Can they eventually be caught and sued for false advertising?

I was wondering that too.

The review landers arent that great either, the so called we've went through all of the offers on the market is "so true"...

Its just that all these blog landers as well as the review landers are getting way out of hand.

Just a matter of time to get caught up on the legal side.

The thing is, will any other method convince consumers to purchase?

laughing? i was laughing at the ridiculousness of it all.

i have blog landers (not any like those) and am going through great legal strides to protect my posterior.

but I dont think the "mainstream" has a clue to how affiliate marketing works and "blog lander" affiliate marketing is a small drop in the huge ocean of affiliate marketing. so I'm not sure who the "we're" is you are referring to.

I'm pretty sure you can be sued for using someone else's picture and writing a fake story under their name.

Herein lies the $20,000 question. Or 20 million dollar question.

Of course you can be sued for lieing. You can also be prosecuted by the government for false advertising.

The gamble is whether or not the prosecutors want an affiliate marketer making $1-$25k a day or a company offering the grant kit making 10 times that (maybe).

As for using someones picture, you could get in trouble for breaking the terms and conditions of stock photography contracts. If you were dumb enough to use some non-stock photo without permission, you could be sued in civil court if they were real pissed.

Of course, it also matters what legal entities you have formed that own these campaigns or whether your blowing your jewels in the wind as a sole proprietor.

i kinda hope people directly jacking landing pages and put zero effort into this go down. Is that wrong?

at the same time, step up your fucking game and you'll be fine. buy fucking photos on istock, put 5 minutes into your disclaimer, setup you operation as a business, maybe ever create some real value for your visitors (shock).

i'd say a lot of affilates are not thinking long term at all
