Ok another year has come and gone, and the only money I have made this year is from my job which I hate. I first learned about affiliate marketing back in 2006 and ever since then. All I have done is dreamed of working for myself and leaving my job behind me for good. I’ve done the make X amount of money shit scams with this proven method and have jumped from idea to idea like a crackhead looking for his next fix.

I want 2012 to be the breakthrough year for me, so I’m putting it all out there for all of you to see.
The Idea: If I’m going to make a site it has to be something that interests me or I’ll just not stick with it.

When I read stories or watch a video on youtube I’ll always scroll down and read the comments some of the funniest shit I have seen is written in these comments, and this will be my primary source for content. The site I want to make is going to use comments as the content and user interaction to vote on these comments that are the funniest or just fucked up etc….

I will be using a webbot, to scrape them from various sites , store them , and categorize them in a database. Using that database I will always keep fresh and new content coming, and building in some functions to make sure duplicate content doesn’t make it on the site.

Here is the domain I’ll be using WTFYouSay.com - Exploring the world of WTF!
right now it’s just a shitty wordpress site with one gay post about twilight
I look forward to learning a lot by doing this for all of you to see and to help others too.
P.S.
It's Time to finally put this shit to use:

Here's a tip. If you do start making lots of money with this site, don't post the exact details on a public forum unless you want people to start copying your site.

I just picked up a few domains myself:

wtfyousay.org
wtfyousay.net
wtfyousay.info
wtfyousay.co
wtfyousay.us

All jokes aside, I think its cool. I have all my niche sites but the real money makers are in brands like the one you hope to create. I will pursue something similar eventually. Just not sure what.

Don't try to re-invent the wheel. It's going to take you quite a while to read all those books, and even longer to reach a proficient skill level with any of them. Unless you want to delay your online ventures further, it's probably a good idea to use an established CMS in the beginning.

EDIT: It sounds like you've already done the reading. Disregard this entire post.

i was going to post something shitty, shit like Jcash does to every thread on WF.

However, i decided not too.. congrats to you

If you're going to do a site about youtube comments, you better have a big section for all the stupid fucking shit that people write there as well. I find youtube comments pissing me off much more often than I find them making me laugh.

However, you could really draw visitors with rage inducing content, even moreso than with funny content. Of course I have no proof for this statement; it just makes sense in my head and, well, I've been around WF for a whole month - A WHOLE MONTH - so I OBVIOUSLY know my shit.

He's right, you can really pull people in with stupid stuff that makes people rage- it's all about getting the biggest emotional response and from my experience anger>humor at least in terms of knee-jerk response, you just have to be creative when you monetize.

IM is easy bro.

Just learn how to do keyword research and on page optimization.

Then (since you have a job you have spare cash) outsource quality articles that have H1,h2,h3 targeting your keywords.

Upload the shit, outsource the SEO.

@ CaviB - really non-profitable idea, bro. You'll have a much easier time making money, say, selling "stop snoring" solutions then trying to monetize your current blog.

Go where there's MASSIVE consumer demand - that's where the money is ...

For example, Zquiet.com is offer $30 per sale - can you make a sale when someone types in "Stop snoring solution for people over 40" and lands into your long tail keyword blog post? You bet.

Do more, read less.

Have you thought your monetization strategy all the way through?

To be honest at this point I'm not concerned about monetization, yes I have thought of ads and offers and the categories that I would like to introduce, but for now I'm more concerned about creating a value for users and an enjoyable experience for people who will use this site. Overall visitors and bounce rates among other data is what I'll be looking into once I launch the site.

You make no sense, sir. You can increase user experience 100 fold and it doesn't matter without knowing how to monetize. Unless you really just want to offer something cool to folks for some intrinsic payoff. But if that was true you wouldn't be on Wickedfire.

If you're serious about coding your own CMS (website) from scratch throw away all those PHP/MySQL/Javascript books and buy a book on Ruby on Rails, or Django. If you're gonna hand code something atleast use a good framework.

I don't see this site succeeding if it stays in a blog form. I've seen similar project back in my native country (East Europe), it shows the funniest comments from forums, YouTube and all Internet. Site has mad traffic but all content is generated by site members. Site owner does admin job (probably hired someone to do it). People can vote on best texts, comment etc. There are awards, site get fresh content every single day etc. However mad traffic site got was coming from other similar sites the guy had (on the beginning). I checked and it took him around 5 yeras to get to the level he's on, with around of 20 truly entertaining sites. He monetizes those sites with 3 or 4 methods (some of them very creative, plenty of testing).
Basically the same people go thorugh each (or most of) his websites every fucking single day to check what's new.

How are you planning to scrap funny commnets? Surely it must be hand-picked. Even if you scrap comments with the biggest approval it doesn't mean they would be funny or interesting.

You still need to keep some context for these comments (that east european site does it - it shows whole conversation if needed, piece of the video or whatever).

Plenty of work ahead of you, wish you all the best with your project.

This, or as I was going to suggest, CakePHP...
