I have been registered here for about 6 months. Maybe longer. I thought i would put all my thoughts in one place so any other n00bs can maybe benefit from my experiences. Before i found wickedfire i knew nothing about AM. I am studying web development and i have a few clients and my portfolio is on it's way to being respectable. I know that i want a piece of the AM action too though. Anyway, i have been doing this for 6 months and so far i have earned exactly 93p (adsense). I have come to the conclusion that i am spending far too much time reading and looking for the 'maging bullet' and not enough time actually doing something constructive. I guess what i am saying is that i am going to stop reading and start doing. I have spread myself too thinly, i know 'a bit' of loads of stuff but i am not skilled in one particular area. So... I have a few practice SEO sites. They are low traffic keywords but they are ranking OK so i will keep at them until they are in the top 3 then move on to tougher keywords and repeat the process... That is the first area i am going to concentrate on. Secondly i am going to pull my finger out and learn PHP. I think that these are two reasonable goals and instead of wondering from blog to blog picking up bits of info, i can get a solid skill set down and then re-evaluate my position. Hopefully i can then generate some cashflow to start spending on traffic for affiliate ofers.
I guess what i am saying to all the oher n00bs is, dont get hung up on going from $0 to $xxxx a week in the shortest amount of time possible. Bide your time and put the effort in. If you have a great idea for a website but it will take a month to build... do it! Or invest in some SAMS books and do the lessons to get some skill down and cash in! I have realised that you need to find one thing that you want to do and do it, as opposed to trying to learn about every thing going. Also, nobody is going to hand you everything on a plate... you need to build your own knowlege and experience, then you have something to offer and you might get more back.
Any coments??

p.s. - BOOBS!!! :D

I'll just say this - whenever I'm looking at the newbie section one thing becomes really apparent to me, and that's how every thread in the newbie section centers around SEO shit, while the main AM forums - with the bigger ballers - mainly deal with paid traffic.

Then you have threads like this, with noobs saying they pretty much went nowhere in the last few months.

Hmm. Makes you think, doesn't it.

I agree but i have made the concious decision that any money i spend online, i am going to make online. Which is why i am starting with this stuff. If i get some skills down then i will be able to generate money to spend on ppc etc without digging in to my weekly wages etc... Plus, skills such as php and SEO will serve you well if you are having a bad day at PPC. Don't get me wrong, i'm itching to have a go but i feel i would benefit more from 'the full package'...

*new paragraph* if you have these skills then it will make your online life a lot easier and give you more freedom to try out these new ideas - or copy the next big website trend that comes along!! I am hoping that the experience i gain from experiemnting with SEO, php, building websites etc will give me a better grounding and more chance of success when i try full on AM. Finally, if you can get good at generating good web properties, with solid, easily categorised traffic, then that beats paying for it right??
:D

That's what most newbies reason but I disagree. Takes a shit ton of time to SEO something up to the degree that you're even making a couple hundred with it. And scaling it is next to impossible.

Just ask yourself, would you rather spend $1000 a week to make $3000 or earn $500 a month just so you can say you didn't spend any money on paid traffic?

OK good point...

Tip for the future: If you want good answers, don't post boobs. When you post boobs that's all people focus on. Also, according to the Rules of Engagement #11, boobs go in the StS section only.
