Read somewhere here you need a good ad copy and a good layout to get a good ctr. Never really thought the ad copy would have a big impact on ctr but it makes sense. How do you go about writing ad copy for your arb pages? The below example used an ad that had little to do with the content on the page and made the site seem like you would be dealing with a real mortgage company. Is this the approach most of you take?

From Chrislingle's arbitrage thread:
Ad was

find your perfect mortgage
We have information providing you with the lowest mortgage rates and refinancing available. Our lenders will deal with first time buyers as well as people with spotty or bad credit.

nice tip jdog. ive been doing that, but subconsiously. Never really actually thought it out. but that is a good suggestion

Just don't post it anywhere else or I will track you down and threaten to sue you.

Just for the record, someone else said something like this a while ago and it has stuck in my head.

That's a great way to put it JDog.

I've been making my titles look like there will be something to buy on my site, in hopes of attracting people that will be interested in the ads. So I'm thinking of the copy as a way to filter potential visitors, not just attract them. I don't want to pay for traffic that's just curious.

To be fair, I haven't done careful tests of other types of ad copy (funny, reverse psychology, etc) so maybe those work too. But my current way seems to make the most sense.

jdog great tip, PSU4Life - my thread started out in my mind anyway to be something that would evolve and we would test many things but due to things going on in the thread and elsewere I decided not to put much more effort into it. I am kind of anal about testing and tracking my tests and Jdogs advice about ads is GREAT and well put! the ad that you showed got lots of clicks but stayed in the 25 to 30% ctr range, doing an ad like Jdog said raised the ctr almost 20% - I still test both because industry to industry your "clicker" is different, it sometimes depends on the technical knowledge of your "clicker"

Promise something that your ads can provide, but your content does not.

I like this idea, and I've been thinking about, but just wondering, has anyone gotten into trouble with 7search (running afoul of their keyword guidelines) by doing this?

waz - they don't care what you do! why? they are happy you are spending money with them. as long as you don't break the law it is the wild wild west!

I dunno

there are only 55 characters to choose from

aslong as you mention the keyword in your ad copy you should get good CTR
