adsense vs other search

Well I really thought I was past the swinging dicks but I was had again. Damn.

So I am only doing adsense right now and having a lot of trouble getting a return. I was hoping some experienced sm's could tell me if the other major searches tend to have better roi

From what I've seen it is typically easier to get profitable on smaller search engines b/c there is less competition, but many times not worth the effort b/c the volume just isn't there.....
