I am a newbie to the affiliate marketing space. I've applied for a few affiliate marketing programs but have generally not been accepted. Usually told that my *experience* is not enough to qualify for the program.
For all the affiliate experts out there, my question is, how do I jump start into this space.
- what is needed to be viewed attractive for affiliate programs?
- what are good conversion rates for affiliate marketing pages?

any other tips would help. i have quite a bit of experience in the SEM space with high quality and conversion on campaigns from the major search engines.
thanks everyone!

Hi shadowsofdefeat,

You'd do better not asking such basic questions without first reading a few of the threads on here. The WF Treasure Trove is a good one, and perhaps the Newbie Guide over at Nicky Cakes blog. Once you've done some reading, and got properly started on a few things, then you'll find people are happy to help.

If you're not getting approved to the networks, just fucking lie. I did. Phone the network after you've applied. Be yourself and just tell them what they want to hear, and you'll get approved no problem. I am a total fucking noob and I've not been disapproved yet. Just say you do PPC and some Facebook ads or some shit, and act natural.

Erm, and don't click any links that folks give you, unless you want to see spinning dicks, if you like spinning dicks, you're in the right place.

PS, give the red text a miss, people may spit their dummies out of their prams, and finally, welcome.

thanks for the info.

i guess my primary question was what should i have set up in a landing page before i apply, etc. reading through the sources you gave plus the idea of calling them up and discussing makes much more send.

i posted in red because my screen was f'd up and the standard text color was not readable. since i'm a newbie, didnt know how it would should up.

thanks!!

Check to see if any of the Affiliate Networks you're applying to have a training program to complete prior to acceptance within the Network. We've recently added a Publisher Certification Program for new affiliates, which provides a lot of helpful info regarding campaign setup, FAQ's, etc.
