Hi guys!

As the 2010 year came to an end I noticed I was getting less and less clicks on my google adsense.

So I started researching and implementing some monetizable alternatives.

I used bidvertiser and the searchreviews widget. One of my friends also uses widgetbucks but he didn't like it and switched back to adsense.

(you can google them yourselves, i don't wanna be kicked out for spamming any links)

searchreviews got me good payouts. It got more clicks per visit, probably because its product reviews instead of ads. I have a theory on why people are ignoring ads below...

Bidvertiser was also a good option, they sent me detailed reports of what was going on which was nice.

Overall heres my theory:

The internet is a living and breathing thing. It evolves and so do the people who use it. Pop up ads were popular in the early 2000's, but now people have simply adapted to ignore popup ads. I think sadly the same thing is happening with google adsense ads. When you go to a page and see the google ads on the side they look familiar, thus easy to ignore.

What do you guys think? Are people evolving and adapting to ignore ads?
It makes sense to me...if a pop up came up right now you would ignore it, but 10 years ago you wouldn't -___-

lulz. That's like saying TV commercials are irrelevant and are mostly ignored since they've been around for so long. You just have to catch the user's attention with a good picture and some great copy.

UHHHH TV commercials ARE being ignored. Have you seen the advancement in DVR recordings in the last 6 years?

Who the hell watched commercials nowadays.
They are getting phased out.

Its called exponential growth of consumer tendencies. We don't like ads, we skip them.

Go tell that to the hundreds of porn sites making millions each year promoting penis enlargment and poker sites via pop ups and pop unders.

The fact is, that seasoned internet/computer users will ignore ads.... and its been like that for a looooong time. But generally internet marketers dont target seasoned users, and there is a continual stream of newbies on the internet who WILL and DO click ads.

If you're seeing a reduction in clicks but still getting the same amount of traffic, it might just mean your niche is drying up and less people are advertising on that niche, meaning your google ads show groupon ads instead of targeted ads which people are more likely to click.

Get the fuck out of here. TV advertising is a multi billion dollar industry for a reason and TV ads wont be getting phased out any time soon. Some people skip them, millions / billions of people dont, and as a result, people become brand aware and buy products.

no need to say "get the fuck out of here"

Its called an theory for a reason. I am stating my views on what is happening in the market and you state yours. No need to get your panties in a twist.

AdSense unfortunately tends to be the highest paying and most relevant network. I would suggest you restructure your site's layout for better CTR if that's the problem.
