Am I right in saying that wp-autoblog automatically pings the blog it pulls from?

Can someone confirm I've got this right?

With wp-autoblog installed, am I right in saying that each time a user visits your site, it pulls the latest posts from the rss feed, AND (this is the important bit) it pings the blog it pulls the feed came from?
