I am new to marketing on Facebook (go figure). Now that that is out of the way... I am trying to figure out how to have my ads consistently get impressions. Let me just give the basic stats on two of my ads that I'm scratching my head on.

  1. Has been running for 2 days. Both days have a CTR of .12%. I am bidding over (by 10 cents) FB's suggested bid. Impressions were coming in and then.... NOTHING. Also, have only hit 25% of my budget for this ad as of now.
  2. Is a lot like ad #1 but this ad has .22 CTR and the cpc is at the top of FB's suggestion.
Is this normal or is there something I can do so my ads will keep getting impressions?

The short answer is: No. Facebook ads will not always make sense (kidding... sort of). There is a great forum in the Affiliate Marketing section which addresses some of your possible issues, start from the beginning and work your way through. It will help you in the long run.

You're bidding CPC right? If these ads are CPC and impressions just stopped, it's either because your CTR dropped or your targeting is real specific and the audience just isn't online.

If you recreate the ads as CPM you're paying for the impressions so your CTR doesn't matter to them and your ad's "ranking" won't fluctuate...but overall don't even look at FB's suggested bid prices, they're never accurate.

I think you're right. No matter what I change or try there's always something about their system that seems odd. I almost feel as if it's consistently inconsistent.

Even asking a member of the FB team really hasn't brought any concrete answers... just more questions. I guess the thing to do is just roll with it and see if I can try to make some sense of it (even if just a little bit).

Sounds like you're running a dating offer. Even if you're not, as Rooby said, there are maybe tons of ads trying to get placement for the same demographics but not enough volume available. I would recommend to create a few more duplicate ads and see if those get anymore tractions.
