I just picked up a seo client (4 lawyers... and I'm overbilling those guys for a change.... :) ) and the damn partner sites are in ASP.

Never worked on a windows machine before - what's different? Am I cool just opening with filezilla or dreamweaver, making my onsite changes, or do I need to use something else?

Sorry for the dumb question (I should know better by now) but a quick google search gave me conflicting advice.

If you mean the files end in ".asp", they are classic ASP (Active Server Pages). Yes, you can just use FTP to get the files and edit them in Dreamweaver or some other text editor.

The conflicting information would be revolving around ASP.NET which is part of the .NET framework which may or may not be editable depending of if the code is compiled.

If you are planning a long term relationship with that site I'd start planning an eventual migration to .NET.

ASP is very old school. We are several versions into it's successor ASP.NET

They are old sites - about 7 years old. I haven't gotten FTP access or anything yet because the contract isn't signed..... I guess I'll find out when I get in there.

With them being that I old my money is on classic ASP, unless they did a rehaul on them not too long ago.
