Backlinks from video sites

I believe that youtube nofollows links you add in description, but what about other video sites? Is that a common thing or can some video sites be used for that purpose?

I'm not 100%, but I'd say it depends on which site it is.

For instance, one of the Youtube clone scripts, PHPmotion, allows you to set all links as follow or nofollow. I'd assume others would be similar in that respect.
