Backordering a domain

I'm guessing the answer is 'no' but it's worth asking.

When buying a domain through backordering do you retain the value of the domain age, etc?

Really? So even if it expires and is reregistered by someone Google still gives you love?

I haven't done this in awhile so take it with a grain of salt, but I used to have good luck putting the old content back up (archive.org) on a site for awhile and then slowly transitioning the site content/design over.
