So, I have been fucking around with PPC with direct linking and have not had much success (not surprised I have only ran 4 campaigns). I have some random questions that I am hoping people will be able to provide some insight on (not expecting all answers to be acknowledged), but I want to make sure I am on the right track and more importantly would like to know how I might be fucking up.

the name of the game with ppc is epc>cpc seems easy enough and I have tried different types of campaigns and can't seem to figure out where I am going wrong. I am only using AdWords and I am beginning to think that might be the problem.

1. Is Adwords even a good place for a newbie like me to start?

2. Would Microsoft Adcenter be any better ?

3. Are there formulas used to determine max bid prices or do you literally guess where to start?

right now I am trying to figure epc on a per 100 click basis ex: 7.00 payout would be .07 epc that seems hard to do at least with the ads I am using the competition drives price well about that but if I offer the prices I might get conversion but I will be running my ad at a deficit.

4. When it comes to split testing on adwords the only thing I am doing different is changing the keywords should I be changing the text ad and keeping the keywords or is there more that I could be doing.

If i was any good I would provide some tips for PPC but the only advice I have is don't follow my advice because I don't make money........YET lol

One last thing people might think I am expecting to make money overnight, but that's not the case I just don't want to keep doing the wrong things over and over.

Ive just started out and Adwords blows donkey balls. I trialled them on a few campaigns and tbh the quality score and the amount of faffing and large CPC bids it just doesnt seem worth it.

I signed up with adcentre and its been ace.

I can honestly say that Adcentre is one of the best experiences i've had with any online service. I get emails routinely asking me if I'm ok and if there is anything they can help me with. I have my own representative I can get on the phone so if things goto shit I have someone I can talk to.

Try getting hold of anyone at google - you can't - you have to wait upto 24 hours for a canned email reply. It's crap.

The problems with adcentre - No graphic ads - only text :(

I think bidding is about testing (from what i've read).

Ultimately you want the formula to be

No of Clicks = X
No of Conversions = Y
Cost per Click = A
Revenue per Conversion = B

If (X * A) > (B * Y) then

monies = profit
else
monies = loss
end if

So test it. Even if youre up a few cents/pence per 1000 clicks youre in profit and that means its just a case of scaling it.

At least that's my interpretation of how this all works.

PPC, especially on Adwords, is NOT for newbies. Dont even mess around there until you are an expert but even then, you will be more lucrative on other networks. Dupois24 is correct. Facebook for PPC is where you need to go. Its very friendly and easy to use and doesnt have all the fucked up shit Google makes you go through and they are just flat out cheaper.

so it sounds like I need to be on FB and with yet another failed campaign on AdCenter I think it may be time to try my hand at FB....with that said how do you get pictures without worrying about copyright is there a place people go to get pics or do people make their own??? I know this might seem like a common sense answer to those of you already doing this but again I am as new as you can possibly get at AM.

Thanks

You get public domain pics, just do a google search for this. You can also use Google images for any keyword you want. Just make sure the pics you choose are not copyrighted.
But lots of the public domain pics show up on Google Images too.
