I have some domain question I will like to ask since I will be doing major purchasing of domains for my niche. So, here goes nothing:

1. Is it best to get all the ones you can have private registration if you are starting out a new brand or just get the popular domain names (.com .net .org .biz .info .me .mobi) and you will be fine?

I ask this because If my brand gets popular then I don't want others to make money by buying my brand name using a domain I didn't register with (that can have private rgistration) and then the person makes lots of $ just by selling the domain name and any other domain name related to my brand (So far I calculated their are over 100 of them!)

2. If my brand is for example called jamster and I get the domain name jamster.com but also get jam-ster.com.

So, Does this make a big difference having website name like jam-ster.com and should i get other domains that have this "-" bar within the domain?

Are they also able to make money just by having a popular domain but has a "-" inside it?

You don't have to get all that, maybe .com and .net (if you're feeling froggy). Just keep an eye on the others and when you become a internet billionaire, send DMCA or sue anyone trying to squat shit on your brands.

Or if you don't become an internet billionaire, you can at least feel good you didn't waste $1000s on shitty domains you never did anything with.

If you can come up with 100's of variations of a 1 or 2 word name, you're WAY overthinking this

Pick up the .com, maybe the .net if you feel like it. Test out your idea. You'll know if its going to go anywhere before anybody else does... if it looks promising, buy all the other TLD's if you like

If it flops (which is probable), you'll be fucking GLAD you didnt spend so much money on all your little variations that nobody would buy even for the annual reg fee's

I dont think you need to get 100 of them.
here is my list:
.com
.net
.org
.info
you can also have some ccTLDS like .co.uk and maybe .us

one advice - dont go crazy with that - I think you have a long time to go before sombody grab the .biz or .ws...

now to the - question.
If your site is JamSter.com then get Jam-Ster.com as well, but no other extensions.

If your starting budget is $200,000,000 then sure get 100s.

If it is what I think it is based on your question, .com, .net and .org will be fine.
