Best & Most Flexible WP Theme?

I'm thinking of switching to a WP theme that's more flexible than Amazing Grace - a free theme I'm running now.

I like the flexibility (and look of) Thesis 1.8 or 1.9, or maybe "Vigilance" from Theme Foundry. But changing themes means a lot of work, so before I make the jump to a more flexible theme, I thought I'd ask about it.

If I want a more flexible theme, is Thesis the way to go? "Vigilance" or something from the Theme Foundry?

Or are there better choices? Maybe even something for free?

Thanks --

Thesis is a very cool and robust theme and I use the shit out of it. But for someone that doesn't know CSS very well, thesis isn't going to help you much.

For quick implementation try the Headway Theme. Pretty much drag and drop.

Atahualpa has worked well for me.

btw - there was a thread on this same topic a few months back. A search for it might yield some other results.

When you say 'flexibility' for your theme - what kind of flexibility are you looking for?

Is it to add video, sound or just photos?

thesis + thesis skins (google 'em).

In my niche, (financial newsletters) Thesis + newspaper skins go over really well.

Really, really well.

Thanks for the help and suggestions. Thesis seems to have a lot of loyal users, but I guess I need to look at ThemeForest, Thematic, Pagelines, Catalyst, & Woo Showcase. Nobody mentioned Vigilance or Theme Foundry. That's too bad. I liked Vigilance.

By "flexible" I meant being able to have one or two or three sidebars, several different places for widgets, and control over menus, headers and footers -- the same kind of control we're used to with HTML sites.

I'll look forward to any other comments.
Tnx again.

I've been very pleased to find that with Thesis I can set up a "pitch page" or "landing page" with no sidebars. So I can make my Wordpress blog look almost like an HTML or PHP site with a landing page, splash page, or squeeze page.

What I need now is an easy way to add the check marks and 100% guaranteed graphics that make sales pages look so good. Can anyone point me in the right direction for a graphics package or graphics editor? Especially one that will work with Thesis or Wordpress?

what are you using these themes for? SEO, adsense?

If you know css, and simple html, you can easily take the sidebar, its just a few lines i believe.

For Dani -- Yes I know some HTML and CSS

I'm using the theme for a site to sell affiliate products and build a mailing list, Dani.

I'm adding courses with tutorials I've written ("Simple Secrets") and other content to make it interesting. Then pages of "Products I Like & Use" (affiliate products), reviews, and other original content. Also "Gregs Back Pages" which is just interesting and fun stuff.

Here's a link if you'd like to take a look. Your Affiliate Internet Income Jackpot. Here & Mostly Free.. It's still under construction, but you'll see the starts of what I'm talking about.

I'm also thinking of maybe adding a few standalone sales pages, too.

The first product I'm working on in Wealthy Affiliate, and it has its own page, but I'd like to sell other IM products, too.

I'm reasonably comfortable with simple HTML and CSS, but don't know Wordpress themes well enough yet to start playing with the code to add or delete sidebars. Maybe I should try to learn it, though. You seem to indicate it's not too hard. Thesis lets me add or eliminate them with a menu, so I hadn't thought about learning the code.

Cheers --
