Best Social Networking Script?

I have this domain sitting around and I want to set up a social site for friends interested in the types of workouts we're into. What's the best script for this?

I can't remember which script i was looking at a while ago for this kinda thing, needless to say don't go to DP!

PHPFOX is one that I know of. I don't know if it is the best.

I've used phpfox before. It was ok but not great. Unless you want a really generic site you're best to roll your own

I've been looking at a few. I can't get this to run on my host and several others have had similar problems, but they have some high-end clients (i.e. Harvard)... and it's free. Elgg: the open source social networking platform

I have tried almost every social networking script out there. Basically none is as good as the current facebook or myspace..

personally, I don't want to compete with facebook / myspace, but want to give people a community option on a more local scale w/ a niche focus. granted, I don't want to be offering up crap either.
