I’ve been entertaining the idea of using one domain as a general blog site where people can create their own blogs, free of charge. Of the course the idea isn’t to give a medium for people to make blogs but to auto generate them with my own tools and give each blog a subdomain on the main domain. I’d then use the blogs to get links for my WH sites.

Another idea is to do the same thing except with free web hosting.

I’d be able to write all my own tools to do this.
How do these ideas sound?

Actually I was just introduced to WPMU tonight by a friend I’m working with. It’s looks like great software and I think I’ll focus my efforts on making plugins for this rather than starting from scratch.

How does the many blogs via subdomain idea sound though? I’ve tried to do some research on it and I get mixed opinions on the subject. Some think it doesn’t help very much since it’s they all belong to one domain and others don’t think that plays a big (if any) factor into how Google interprets things.

This is basically a domain saving tactic I’m trying to use. Rather than buy 300 domains and use them all for blogs and linking power I can use subdomains, at least for now.
