Hey guys, something happened over the weekend that really disturbed me about the affiliate marketing industry that compelled me to blog about it.

So I re-activated my blog (in signature) for the time being. Not sure if I am going to be a regular blogger again, but thought I would let people know there is a post (which I think everyone should read....) in case you deleted it from your feed reader.

I don't get why a company would do this... they could be making alot more sales if they simply upped the affiliate margins a little. It's not like they don't have the room.

Post the name of the company. Or maybe one of your "readers" might post the name because they were able to read between the lines based on the info you provided.

or you could say what industry it is in and then say who it is NOT or do a hangman like C_MP_NY N_ME. Something

Awesome I can now read everything that I missed out on since I only found out about it after you took it down.

Diorex, do us all a favor and tell us the name of the company. I could understand why you might not want to, but there are ways of telling us without really telling us. Catch my drift?

What do you not understand about this statement?

Before you ask - I thought about posting the name of the company, but after looking at the angles, I have decided that the general warning was enough. I spoke with a lawyer friend and he said I would open up a huge can of worms if I said anything other than very vague information that could not identify the company. It would essentially be my word against the CEO and his lawyers. Just not worth the hassle. Take this as a cautionary tale rather than XYZ company is a bad affiliate partner.

More importantly, what do you not understand about mine?

He can tell us without telling us. Plenty of ways. I can think of a few ways right off the top of my head.

Either way, Diorex is a big boy. He can make up his own mind.

Even more important, why does the name of the company matter?

Responding in the form of a question is gay. Save that shit for Jeopardy.

Diorex doesn't want to run the risk of being sued for libel. Also, why jeopardize relationships within his wife's social circle? You guys need to look at the big picture. As he stated, it would be more of a hassle than it's worth. Begging him to give out the name is a waste of time.

Exactly. Who gives a shit what company it is? This shit happens all the time regardless of the company. It's shitty, but look at it from the company's point of view: they get qualified leads for practically nothing. On the flip side, if they treated their affiliates better and paid affiliates appropriately, they would probably make assloads more.

If everything Diorex said is true, he can't be touched. Libel doesn't apply when what's written is factual information. Proving that it isn't libel however is where the situation isn't worth it.

I think Diorex was trying to spark controversy, anyway. Otherwise, why did he post that info on his blog and then ask us all to have a look? He knew it would draw traffic.

Anyway, I'm tired of this thread. I'm not posting on it anymore. I made my point clear. Either he posts the name or this thread should die off because it's fucking pointless w/o a name.

Spark controversy via linkbait? WOW that makes perfect sense. Everything is coming together now. That explains exactly why someone would completely shut down their blog and stop blogging exactly 2 months ago then come back to write linkbait so they could somehow benefit themselves. Could you also point to another one of diorex's posts where he's blatantly trying to benefit from blogging? Does he have a hidden agenda that I'm missing?

You need to stop taking things at face value. Once again, he didn't write the blog post to bash a company. He was discussing how advertisers (not all) use tossaway affiliates.

I didn't expect this thread to be so damn complicated.

Glad to see it live, I just loaded 20 pages to read since I just missed reading it when it was closed.

I do not think Diorex cares about linkbait - from what he's posted in the past he knows his shit and has a large bankroll, I don't think his blog brings in any income...

Saving your posts now before it goes back down- I was pissed I didn't before!

The name doesn't matter!

I sure would like to know the name. But, this aff forums. All I need to know, this shit is out there. It's actually better not to know, so I am more careful across the board.
