I am just curious, there are people who blog about their personal life right? then how come they are getting traffic if they don't use targeted keywords? (they don't right?)

What are the chances of a person blogging about his personal life of actually making money?

My advice to you is...don't do it. I tried this before and stupidly thought people would come. They didn't.

You need to target your blog to a certain audience that is looking for the subject you're going to be talking about. No one's doing a search for your life on Google.

Of course, there are exceptions like Shoemoney who blogs about his personal life and how many credit cards he has, how many free T-Shirts he's giving away this week, and other useless crap, but his blog didn't start out that way. It used to be a money-making blog which was why people came there...to find out how to make money.

You need to pick a subject to write about other than your life and then market to that audience. If there's a need for the info, people will come if they know where to find you.

Yeah, the only way you'd get traffic that way is by commenting on other blogs or social network awareness. And that's not worth any money more-so because the traffic isn't targeted.

I have to argue... I read this personal blog about a hooker in vegas, she was just writing about what she did everyday, people she met, raids at the casinos, and it was some very very interesting stuff. I think personal blogs about people and cancer or having boyfriends in prison, -- things like that get an audience and stick.

But even those last two are targeted to a certain demo. You'd have to be posting about a certain subject every week, even if it's your life you're talking about.

In my opinion, personal life shouldn't be mixed with business. It's simply irrelevant and unprofessional to the extent of annoying. Even if the blog gets the traffic, will the viewers enjoy the content of the blog? If the viewers don't enjoy the blog enough, will they stay to make the purchase? Under any circumstances, personal entries should be posted in social networks and kept separated from business.

Unless you have a wildly exciting life no one will give a damn. There is no demand for blogs about guys gaming in their underwear (that I know of)
