I am pretty new to SEO and thought I would start out by building up my own personal PR network. I have been looking up domains for sale on digital point but have come across something strange.

Users are selling domains with PR4 which I verified but they have no backlinks? Now the way I was taught was to check backlinks with ahrefs.com. Any ideas or suggestions? Maybe I should stay away from digital point? Just looking for some help!

thanks a lot!

Use logic here.

How does a site get PR?
What kind of PR does a site with 0 backlinks normally have?

And attempt to answer the question:

What happens to a PR4 site that is dropped and has no backlinks?

So basically they are selling domains that use to have BLs and no longer do and now they are unloading a domain that will eventually lose all its PR?

They are most likely faked PR or domains that have lost all backlinks and the PR hasn't been updated.

If you're looking for established blog sites. We have many for sale with high PR. PM me.

If I were you, I would stay away from DP for buying stuff... Hell, I would stay away from DP period... Thats just my personal opinion.

If you want to find PR domains, a trick I do, is go to ebay and search for "domain lot" -- A lot of the sellers on eBay fall into 2 categories if they are selling domains (in my experience):

1. Don't know what they are doing...
2. Try to sell stupid domains for a lot of money...

If you can find people who fall into the first category and who are selling a bulk lot of domains, and they don't have any PR listed, take all of their domains, and search for a bulk PR checker on Google, and plug their domains in. If any of them have PR, buy the lot, and then you have your PR Network.

You can also check out GoDaddy expired domains. If I remember correctly, they have an option for searching just by PR... Build more backlinks to them, and you should be a step ahead of growing/keeping the PR the same.

Anyways, good luck with your journey into your PR network :)

There are a lot of domains with fake PR are being sold on DP. One of the place I use to get PR3-PR5 domains is GoDaddy Auctions. There you can get aged PR3 for $20-$30. All you need is to find list of domians and check their PR.

I didn't know you can get PR3-5 for only $20-$30. This is a real nice contribution mrtwister

You should remember, that nice aged domains with good backlinks are desired by many people, so you can't get nice PR3-PR5 domains eveyrday. Usually, you can get two or three PR3 domains for $12 - $22 + renewal fee ($7.9) per day.

So what if the fake PR checker says its fake but it still has a healthy amount of backlinks?

I found a PR3 that come up fake and the info: shows another site. When I check the backlinks it has links back until 2001 on high PR pages.

Is a domain like that an exception?

If you buy from people with 0 feedback on ebay, they probably don't know what they are doing and you might get luck :). I believe there is a way to search for buyers with certain amount of feedback ( i might be wrong). Also, nice thing about ebay is.. you can always dispute with paypal or credit card nowadays if they try to scam you :).

Creating your own HIGH PR network - or getting backlinks on the homepage of a high PR site to your money site - is one of the best ways in which to boost your SERPS.

Ive done it, many others have done it, and its basically an investment for the long term - as if its a good domain with PR - the link juice will continue to flow...

You cant buy good domain for low amount of money on godaddy autions. Good domains with quality bl cost min $200-$300

you need a way to filter... i started using expireddomains.net and seems pretty useful for being free but you really gotta check...

I have had some luck with digital point... knock on wood though but i have last few weeks gotten pr 6x1 pr5 x 4 pr 4 x 6

and by jumping on them fast and putting good content, thems, scraping what i can from archive.org etc.... and keeping new content daily all is good so far 3 weeks in... also sending high pr blogroll and blog network links at them

but do your homework due diligence for sure... ahrefs is pretty wicked, but i like to check majestic as well.... especially try to find anything redirecting etc and place your own redirects or content there...

here is good basic checklist:

Summary
1. Validate the domain actually has page rank.
Google Pagerank Checker And Alexa Rank Checker | DetectPagerank.com
google: info:domain.com
(make sure is actually the site in question - even if your tools says it is legit)

2. Fake Page Rank
^^ same as above

3. The site: command (in google site:domain.com)

4. Check the Age of the domain.

5. Check Page Rank origin.

6. Subpage Check
- ie check for subpages with PR - awesome if you fine (a pr 4 i got recently has 10 internal pages with pr3-pr4)

7. Backlinks Check in Majesticseo and Ahrefs... red flag if domains are 301 to it, especially if recent and unrelated

8. archive.org - check history - scrape if you can

OK thats not everything but it's a lot of useful stuff - and if you have cheap chance to get PR2-4 - sometimes just grab, add to ALN (authority link network) and get more submit credits daily... one month of 3x daily submits = 45 high pr blog posts to the network even if pr dies after that...

if you use those credits worth a lot more than a 50$ or 30$ domain
