Can Google algorithm catch even these things?

We always say content is king and should be unique but can Google also catch plagiarism in Pdf and Ppt publications. If certain report or presentation is a spin off of another original document ,would Google penalize the website or rank it down. Can we borrow some ideas from the existing document and then publish it.I am not talking about a whole book here.
 


Not sure i understand your question but G can read most PDF content so chances are it will see duplicate content. I personally have no problem with duplicate content in the form of quotes or reference (see popular news sites). A 'reference' link back to the source will make it clear you are not trying to replicate the content but quote it as reference
 
Google can read most PDFs and even Docs (word). As they can read and index them they can check for duplicates just like for any other normal website (the "indexed" version in google-database is about the same for websites and all other formats if not same same)
 
Coogle reads pdfs but it often can't adequately parse pdfs with multiple columns and images, embedded between columns, with staircase text.
