I'm trying to get some ppc traffic to affiliate campaigns. I e-mailed adcenter yesterday because my ads were still not showing up. They responded and said it was because my keywords contain trademarked words. I also had this problem on overture when i tried to set up a ringtone campaign and couldn't bid on a kewyord like "verizon ringtone". Is this normal? Am I just an idiot and trying to target the wrong keywords?

This is normal but the enforcement is very loose. Terms denied today can accepted next week. It's very hit and miss. I'd just get what you can accepted and resubmit denied ones in a few days.

My keywords and ads in adcenter show approved though. I e-mailed asking them why they weren't showing after being approved.

did you ever have them remove the terms after approving them?

I'm really worried because I've got a very successful campaign that was denied at first but later approved.. they said they review keywords every once in a while so there's a chance it might be removed

It depends. At adcenter I've never had anything removed. Yahoo has never removed terms for "trademarked term" atleast for me in over a year. They have however removed all 6000 terms of a particular campaign before because of "editorial standards". I suspect that was more a result of a particular email exchange with their editors than actual "standards". That was fun.

Everything still shows approved, so I don't know what the hell is going on. Just added some more keywords without the TM, but they are not as targetted and more expensive. It's bullshit. I guess that is why no one else is really advertising this product on msn.

Edit- just looked on google and yahoo and both of them are allowing people to bid on these keywords. Bastards.
