Can't See My Site

I just got hosting for one of my domains, and transferred a test html file into the public_html folder.

However, when I type in my url, it shows a 'Page Load Error' and an "Address Not Found" message.

The weird thing is, when I contacted my hosting company, they said they could see my site fine, or at least the test page I wrote.

Any ideas what this could be?

The DNS probably hasn't propagated yet on your side. Add your site/server IP to your HOSTS file in Windows. C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

Thanks, I think that's the problem. Unfortunately I'm not allowed to save the modifications using Notepad, Word, or Works. I'm an admin too, so it's kinda strange.

This has happened to me before also. I just waited waited an hour or so before I went to my url and checked out my website. After that it worked fine.

This is a very common problem, some clients understand but some clients keep on arguing. DNS propagation is not in the hands of web hosting company. It takes couple of hours for the DNS to propagate but sometimes it may take around 24 - 36 Hrs.
