A friend of mine received the following alarming email from google:
"Google has received a civil subpoena for information related to your Google AdWords account in a case entitled ConsumerInfo.com, Inc. v. Jesse Willms, et al., United States District Court, Northern District of California, Case number SACV09-0055 DOC."
Informing him that they will provide his account information as requested in the subpoena (including ads, kw etc..) if he wont file any "[FONT="]motion to quash the subpoena "[/FONT] very soon. I believe they have also attached the subpoena.
All this in consideration to consumerinfo.com against www.creditreportamerica.com lawsuit.
He was running www.creditreportamerica.com 6 month ago, generated small amount of traffic to this offer via adwords.
Few questions:
1. is there any way to stop google from sharing the adwords information ? will a motion to quash the subpoena work ? on what grounds ? privacy ?
2. How did they get his adwords account number ?
3. Can this open the door to direct lawsuits ? if so what if his company is offshore ?
4. Can google or any other traffic sources provide such information without offering the account holder an opportunity to motion the subpoena and disclose this information.
5. any experience with such cases ? what will be the best way to handle this ?
