Good morning, WickedFire!

First of all - Fuck! Isn't that right? I can say that here. Fuck.

Now on to business.

I'm a content writer looking to do a couple free review copies, and also learn a little bit about the business. I have a few questions.

1.) How do you let people know you want to give them free review copies without paying money out of your own pocket to post an ad? Do you just write enough posts in the social forums until you get PM privileges, then find people to target?

2.) I'm confused about how keyword use fits into content writing. I understand the principles but not the relationship. For example, do you just add the keyword randomly when writing the article? Is there an information guide on the forum that explains things like this?

3.) If I write a review copy, am I able to use this as a sample for future work? Can I link this work in my ad to build my portfolio?

4.) Is iTrader embedded into the forum software, or is there a tutorial on how to best use this feature (specifically on WF)?

Sorry if these questions are oft repeated, and if I missed an obvious post explaining them. I promised that I UTFSE, but after a while I figured asking was the path of least resistance.

You don't know how to include keywords in content and you don't have $37 for a paid thread? Why isn't this thread labelled with a "Shameless Plug" icon? Even though I'm pissed that you're trying to steal my business, you're clearly a dumbass that is no real threat to me, so I'll help you out.

1) There's not a lot of options besides a paid thread. Sometimes people will post threads looking for specific types of content writers, you should constantly browse the forum for this type of post. Your method of just writing enough posts would work I guess, people might get pissed if you PM spam them.

2) I'm not even going to answer this it's so fucking stupid. "Path of least resistance"? For you maybe. Fuck you for trying to have somebody explain keywords, one of the most basic concepts of SEO.

3) Yes

4) When you write content for somebody, just ask them to give you iTrader cred. Some will, some won't. I haven't been doing this but I should.

Thanks for the reply, it was pretty helpful.

As for paid threads, I'll gladly throw down money on a paid thread once I have some sort of reasonable assurance that I'm going to make money doing this.

The notion of paying money to give people free review copies strikes me as a little absurd though, wouldn't you agree? I mean, I understand that starting up any freelance work has a cost associated with it (thus my free time I'm giving away) but you have to draw the line somewhere.

The money isn't going to the people you're going to be writing for. It's going to the owners of this forum who sunk their own time and capital into making a message board and marketplace for us. If it didn't exist, I guarantee you would have a much harder time finding work than buying a paid thread and taking a few hours to write some review copies.

You make a valid point. I guess I'm just in info-gathering mode right now, trying to figure out how all this shit works and where I might fit in.

People need writers and I know that I can write - but I guess I want to make sure there aren't any surprises. Will all the info be provided by the person commissioning the work (even my stupid questions about keywords)?

Yeah sorry for snapping at you on that. I've asked that same question before and posted a post just like this and got bitched at before lol.

You obviously write concisely, you can figure out keywords. They'll give you a keyword, sometimes with special instructions, and you write about it. The keyword is the subject of the post. Sprinkle it in the article a few times and make it look natural. Read my home page at tylercreator dot com for my take on how keywords work. I guarantee you won't be wasting your time :P

Further to review copies. You don't have to give it for free...just give some discount.

:hi: I just paid for a thread, then was asked to have at least 15 posts before I can make a thread. Not very happy right now. :2gunsfiring_v1:

For OP, I've been in the content biz for 4 years now. It's great for extra cash. So long as you don't bite off more than you can handle and deliver that content on time. :small-smiley-026:
