Hello all,

I'm looking into doing advertising for some affiliate products for Craigslist. Problem is, under their ToS, "Any unauthorized use of craigslist computer systems is a violation of these Terms and certain federal and state laws, including without limitation the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act (18 U.S.C. § 1030 et seq.), Section 502 of the California Penal Code and Section 17538.45 of the California Business and Professions Code. Such violations may subject the sender and his or her agents to civil and criminal penalties."

Now, this is under the "NO SPAM POLICY" regarding emails, but if you violate their ToS by just spamming craigslist itself (ie. multiple listings in multiple cities), does that fall under the abovementioned???

I've been reading a lot of threads about advertising on craigslist, but is it something to worry about??? Any info would be much appreacited. Thank you for your time.

I don't believe you will get in trouble. I had someone accuse me several months ago of trying to get people personal info, this was on a credit relief promo, they said they reported me to the CL cyber crimes diviion etc. Most I have heard of is peoples IP getting banned, and with all that nonsense from that guy, I still use the IP for CL and have had no issues whatsoever.

I just didn't want to get into trouble with advertising on there. Anyone else have thoughts on this? Thank You

If you're worried - don't do it. I know people who've been milking craigslist for over two years.
