Designing high CTR banners

But anyway.... uhm, yeah writing up such an article is on my post todo-list, but I haven't gotten around it yet because there is SO much to discuss around it.
First of all, a style suitable for high CTR in one niche would not work well in another. As so many things in this business, it's all about your demographic.
Generally speaking though; contrast+interest = win. Stick out enough from the crowd either through ad copy (message), shock value, or style.
And always keep in mind: High CTR more often than not does not equal high conversion rate on the backend. There's usually a tradeoff.
