its funny...as savvy of internet users i assume the digg crowd is (me included), they get aff marketing ads all the time..i see Reunion ads, free ipod, free ps3 etc ads all the time. they must be scraping the bottom for these ads...but i can't see how they convert with such a smart demographic.
 
I'm sure there's money to be made. But DAMN have you ever tried to convert digg traffic? It's like trying to fight a boxer with your hands tied behind your back.
 
haha, if they implement this, all you have to do is run a pro-liberal ad campaign and your ad will be shown at the top with the cheapest cpm/cpc rates imaginable.
 
LOL converting digg traffic is like converting facebook interns, it's a waste of time. But if you're running a link bait campaign or need your video to go viral it's absolutely golden.
 
If I were Digg I would use my obvious power of influence over their users and get exclusive deals offered through the site, with Digg getting some kickback money as a result.

oh really? so i'm guessing it's going to have a title, description, and number of diggs too?

because if they can hide the fact that it's an ad from the users, the users will click it.
 
I don't get how they can't get the right advertisers for this site. Even if you have saavy users you should be able to find advertisers with the right products or services. I think Slashdot and TechCrunch have pretty good ads..why can't Digg do the same?
 
i JUST saw a "Judy's Weight Loss Blog" ad on digg. i can't comprehend how any digg user would possibly convert on this.

also, digg has pretty much the most sought after user base on the internet...35-45 males in the IT industry. i think the average yearly salary for a digg user is something like 80k. the fact that they cant find enough advertisers blows my mind.
 
Has anyone actually advertised on Digg? Or just tried gaming submissions and converting the resulting traffic? If you're talking about ads, wouldn't the non-converting traffic self-eliminate by running adblocker? So you're left with the less savvy users... It's still Digg traffic, but at least you avoid the adblocker assholes because they're never going to see your ad anyway.
 
Digg traffic converts if you have an offer they are interested in. Back when Instant Action was on NB, I gamed a post to the frontpage and made a boatload off that. They obviously aren't going to be sold on rebills and iq quizes, but there are definitely offers that will work on this crowd.
