I'm more design orientated, but if I hooked up with a coder could we make some effective AM sites?

It doesn't really matter what you use.

I use WP a lot because it is easy to set up and get going. plus the plugins help with a lot of stuff that I wouldn't know how to do or be far too lazy to do on my own.

Its just a cms...

Do what you know.

well, I would say whoever the first to make the news farticle lander was pretty successful.

your html design can be converted to wordpress, you arent stuck to using available themes.

if you are a designer and he is a coder then you just get your design on and he can code it into whatever you want be it normal html or wordpress and php. Or you can hire someone to do the conversion.

unless you two will be working on all the same sites together you should try to go for a site format that you can edit yourself if you need to. Wordpress makes a lot of the basic site stuff like making pages, seo, etc. easy and it isn't hard to edit the visual aspect of it in the apperance and site files all from the wp admin panel.

One isn't really going to be more successful than the other because they are all based on what you put into them and the work you do to get traffic and optimize.

Sounds like you're trying to choose a solution before you even have the problem.

Most AMers don't use WP, as WP has nothing to do with AM. But most people choose WP over WP alternatives if they have a problem them WP and its alternatives can solve. Make sense?

WP is just a CMS. Nothing about AM explicitly requires a CMS.

I use it because it's easy and gets indexed by google fast. It might also be because it's like the ipod of websites. Ipod was never particularly good at any one thing, and there were plenty of mp3 players that blew it out of the water in almost every aspect. However since it was the most popular it got the most 3rd party support which meant really freaking cool peripherals.

Well WP's really freaking cool peripherals are plugins, and I kind of amazed at how much plugins can do for you all at the price of free.

I can create my own site starting from a notepad. But why wouldn't I? Because a solution is already provided to me, Wordpress.

Instead of creating a page and design it, correct it, install manual plug ins etc in 48 hours I would just pick the appropriate K.I.S.S Wordpress theme for 30 minutes and all the plug ins and the page are done!

The 47 and a half hours left I would use for something profitable like Writing some good on-page articles, Preparing for the backlinking strategy etc etc.

In short don't waste your time. Don't over complicate things as there are available solutions out there that will give you more time. Focus your attention on something more profitable.

Thanks for the replies guys! Ya I'm going into partnership with the coder (my friend also) while I have the "eye". I was just seeing what route is best in the long run and what would allow best results.
