I am new to the affiliate side of things, after working in PPC in the Auto Insurance space for several years (since 2007) on some large accounts.

I have several domains I recently purchased, with the intent to build them out into auto insurance themed sites, and sell leads from these sites.

The thing is, I want to sign up with a reputable partner first, so I can get all the technical requirements and have everything set up and tested on my end before I go live with the sites.

I would rather come out of the gates with the forms working and ready to drive leads, than just build a plain old informational site about auto insurance with no option on it to get insurance quotes.

Things are obviously going to be slow at first until I ultimately start gaining traffic and backlinks, but even if I am only sending a handful of leads the first few months, I don't see how that could hurt anyone.

Do any of you now how affiliate networks, particularly auto insurance affiliate networks, handle people who are building out brand new, not yet established sites?

I would just reach the network and explain your case and they may give green light.
Most networks tend to ask for a running site to avoid spamming, fraud, etc.

jut build the site out, inc page or whatever with a form ready to use. If you dont know what you need on the form for it to look "legit" just look at your competition

Well just yesterday I applied for a program in CJ without a website but some networks are more strict about it if they had high fraudelent activities from their affiliates in the past.

auto insurance site

Contact me. We run an affiliate network for our insurance offers and could work with you on host/post as well.

I think it's necessary to have a active website before applying. It's better to be ready than sorry. Create one, you're going to need it eventually anyways.

I worked a few years ago with an affiliate site and did not have my own website. I just posted offers and also sent emails out and got paid if someone clicked on it and did the offer.

That's true. We can promote the offers without have a website for example to forums or social media. But for good convert, have a website is must. :)

Nope. You can print flyers and put them on cars in grocery store parking lots and have people go to a bit.ly link that goes to your affilaite offer.

In Nov. I had 20,000 flyers printed at Fedex Kinkos for $190 and by doing this method I generated $16,349 in affiliate income.

Needless to say we didn't have to shoot coon for Thanksgiving and my whole family ate some luscious turkey.

ya you dont need a site lol this is an old thread

It really depends on the Affiliate Network. The majority of the networks don`t ask for a website, but some do (including the one I`m working for...but hey, we sell just one product). Your best bet (and I`m talking to everyone, because this thread is old) is to ask the affiliate network what is their policy before starting work with them.

As mentioned by others here, you dont have to have your own website.

Some networks may ask for one in order to accept you, but you dont need it in order to work.

Does having your own website helps you convert? Depends. If what you do is promote on Facebook (for example) you dont really need it.

But if you are looking to promote a certain niche then having a website with content about it can definitely help. for example - promoting credit score offers or "make money online". If you have a good content website of the topic then sending traffic to your website from search or social (or email) can really help you convert.

Lol. This is an old post but for info's sake, there are many ways you can engage in affiliate networks.

1.) You need a place for you to promote your products, like social media. You can start with a page where you can post links for your products.

2.) Build a site along with what they call private blog networks (PBNS), which will link back to your main site. However, you need to be careful though. Some sites get penalized by search engines especially if they are suspiciously passing links going back to a single site (others may term this as a form of blackhat SEO). But if you are a start-up company wanting to increase your rank in search engines, you need to have a good source of quality backlinks. This takes time though.

To cut it short, building a site from scratch takes some time especially if you are looking for ways to earn online. Be patient though. It takes some time before you get a steady stream of links and new audiences :)
