I didn't post this in the big social ads thread because I need a reply ASAP. I have no clue what's going on right now, but one of my social ad campaigns has gotten 400 clicks in the past 30min or so, and this ad has been paused for 3-4 hours. It can't be a bot because I have had a significant increase in leads since this started. The clicks/cost in my ad manager has not changed since this burst started. WTF is going on?

Also...it's impossible that this is a lag in my facebook ad manager stats updating, because my daily budget was all spent up today minus like $10. The # of clicks I've gotten would drive me way over my daily budget.

So you paused an active ad, and it kept getting clicks?

If that's the case, it's quite common, and they do still run for a while. It's definitely not an instant pause, or even delete if you go that route.

ive also been getting a ton of clicks...just went through another $50 in 25 cent clicks in about 20 minutes...nothing new showing up on the affiliate side

It didn't continue to get clicks after I paused it, it stopped getting clicks for several hours. Then all of a sudden, clicks again. My budget for this ad was $75, I'm just estimating #s but I got approx 400 clicks for $60, which is where it sat for a while after I paused it. According to my affiliate stats, I now have 1000 clicks from that ad, which is another $90 in clicks at my current cpc (with only $15 left in the daily budget).

I guess what I am worried about is can they hit me with a huge bill if they mess up and far surpass my daily budget?

Yep they can do whatever they want lol.

It says in their TOS (at least it used to) that they can continue to show your ad for UP TO 2 WEEKS after it's paused or deleted and charge you for it.

They did it to me back when it was Facebook Flyers Pro - haven't seen much of that since.

I have also had that happened, but when it did I did go over my budget but I was only charged for my daily budget - which was sweet. If they charge you more, tell them to go fuck themselfs.

Oh the joy of credit cards.

I'm going on a whim here, but isn't it possible your ad had a good CTR and therefore, FB prominently placed your ads in a high traffic area?

Is the complaint about getting too much traffic or that your campaign didn't covert this traffic? I mean, I guess if it converted well during these times, you'd be pissed that you didn't max out your campaign budget....

Yes it does happen and I have noticed it in few of my ads. You can get good traffic for few days with good ctr and then suddenly you see a rise in impressions/clicks but conversions stay the same.
