Hello,

This is my first post here, and I am learning all I can!

I have a couple of my own products on Amazon that I want to drive traffic with Facebook ads. Would I be successful if I sent my FB ads to a landing page, which when the Buy button is pressed onthe landing page, they are transferred to my Amazon page to order and checkout?

Would my conversions go down a lot if I did this instead of having them checkout on my own website?

Any info, ideas, or concerns would be great!

Thanks

Well the great thing about internet marketing is it's hard to predict the outcome of a certain test. So say I did a similar test as you, it would probably give me different results as you'd get if you used similar variables.

I've had people copy my campaigns word by word and fail because there's.... the X factor. I had a big volume friend let me copy his campaign and I couldn't get even near to his % conversions. Also the X factor.

So what's the X factor exactly? It's the sum of all little factors you can not directly affect, OR little factors you don't know they can significantly affect the outcome. But it can make or break your campaign. I've made identical campaigns and for some reason one performs well and another just doesn't. Why is that? I can assume it's due to factors I don't have direct influence on. An example would be the platform's score ranking algo. This is just one example but there are many more. Well what I'm trying to get across is that questions like yours show a deep misunderstanding of how internet marketing works.

Of course it can be beneficial to ask questions here and there but the specific question you posed can not be directly answered because the answer relies on dozens if not hundreds of variables that can affect the outcome (your bottom line).

This was a too long rant to put across a simple idea: you always have to test your ideas by yourself. Someone that specializes in email marketing will suggest you grab their email first. An affiliate that had success with direct linking might suggest you skip your own LP altogether. A guy that failed several times with FB will tell you to rather try another platform. And they'd all be right according to their own line of experience. So there's no right or wrong answer.

What you optimize for - works.

Sidenote: I've had one too many long islands so I apologize if this doesn't make any sense..

There are advantages to doing it either way. The answer will have a lot to do with how your potential customers perceive your brand/site/etc. You may find that people trust amazon's checkout/shipping/return system more than yours and will be more likely to buy or you may find out the opposite, as well.

The only way to find out is to test like JoseArmando said.

I've read that Amazon conversions are usually 3X any other medium, so you'll probably find greater success sending them Amazons way in tests.

I have to add a newbie question to this. If it's your product you are promoting on Amazon, would you be violating their TOS by testing direct linking from FB ads? I know that you are not allowed to direct link ads from anything other than email and sites that you own, but I think there may be an exception there.
