For hosting, is bravenet.com good.

I used Bravenet to put a pageview counter, forums, and a guestbook on my first webpage like 12 years ago. I doubt it is a good host.

but what are the pros and cons of each, because i am pure nube, all i know how to do is the basics of dreamweaver, and flash. I'm shaky in the actual using the internet right now for my site, so all information on this would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

I can't think of any pros. Cons include poor performance and crap support.
If your starting out have a look at zensix or hostgator or do a search. Loads of recommendations in other threads.
Seriously, you can do much better than bravenet.

haha, Bravenet. I haven't heard that name in awhile. I remember using them back in the days. Their site looks a lot more professional now.

the problem is i dont know how to do the script for things like submenu's and forums yet, so i wanted to get something that offered these things in a premade code, that i can just smack into dreamweaver, now is there anything that will let me do that

Not being funny but I think you need to check out some web design forums for some of these questions.

There are loads of free third party companies offering hosted forums, blogs etc so you dont need to know how to code them yourself but you are at the mercy of the provider. You could design your site yourself in Dreamweaver then if you want to add a forum just sign up for one of these free hosted ones and link to it. Its not recomended though. I would suggest you downoad a copy of wordpress and install it yourself on your own server. Its not hard and it will handle all your content needs. Hotscripts com has thousands off free scripts too for things like forums, blogs, guestbooks. Its a good starting place to get things up and running quickly.

Well, basically if it's been so many years online and is still there, it isn't a bad hosting provider. However, being not bad does not mean it is good. I'd spend a few more hours searching and comparing. I'm sure you'll find better deals.

I first stumbled across bravenet for some 4 years back, did not realize until this post that they are still around, spend some bucks and get a hosting account.

Wow, as well... Bravenet with their suite of free tools and hosting...

You gotta try: Tripod, AngelFire, FortuneCity, Xoom, Host Rocket, or GeoCities.. Much better!

And for free storage go with MySpace (offering 300MB virtual drives!)... but first you'll need some free internet access, check with: NetZero (really good 56K dial up service, blazing!)

Just kidding ;)

Thanks for the memories :)

Wow bravenet. I don't think I have heard anyone say bravenet since at least 2000. I wouldn't spend a penny with them. There are a lot of hosting services out there. I host all of mine on Godaddy but may be switching over to ZenSix soon.

Hostgator is an excellent option for a beginner. I used their reseller hosting for years which starts at $24.95 per month, I prefer it to their 8 dollar plans which you will probably outgrow very quickly.
