How do I go about getting my website's forum popular and people to start posting to it everyday?
How to get the forum an Authority in a specific niche?
The niche isn't huge but it is growing for sure.

What is the fastest way to accomplish this?

Getting buzz going a new forum is kind of a tough job, especially if your niche already has a forum being run by someone else.

Guess your best bet would be to try ranking the forums for terms relating to your niche first and build up a membership base

Can I just create a bounch of user accounts myself over time and post and replyy to them constantly over time?

Would that get me some backlinks from the forum posts/replies ?

or can search engines see what ip address those posts/replies are coming from?

or when search engines crawl your forum do they just look for new content and then choose what to index?

How does it all work with google and forums and getting posts indexed?

I wouldn't fake a bunch of accounts as you won't be able to maintain it all.

I had a successful forum at one point surrounding my music business. I personally started many threads and replied to each and every thread and post made that I could to keep the content fresh and moving. If you get someone to join, do what you can to keep them there by replying to their posts, etc. It's a community and the friendship aspect is important. Build the relationships.

Take a lot of initiative to begin with. Post useful step-by-step guides or time-saving tips. When you're sharing valuable relevant info it will draw people in to your forum & give them a reason to stay.
