Wow, I've spent like two days at WickedFire.com and I'm loving it.

Got some good info, but as much as I sit here and read, I know that sitting and reading isn't making me any money. DOING is what makes the cash.

Right now the AM/PPC budget is below $200 (since it's a new avenue), so I don't expect to be able to do a ton right off the bat, but I AM willing to put in 8-10 hours a day (despite working a 9-5) to make this work. I have no illusion that this is something that'll be easy, or cheap.

Can anyone help me with some info on starting a introductory campaign that'll help me learn the ropes by doing, and not by reading?

OBVIOUSLY, you don't want to read(you didn't read any of the stuff about intros or n00bs or anything) but you're going to have to get the concepts down somehow.

Get thee over to OutboundSalesGold , now, and get studied up at least a little.

I'd say a good majority of people who come into Affiliate Marketing do it because they've been inundated with these cheesy "Quit your day job, make millions from home without working, all when you buy our system" ads, and they think they can just set up a frontpage, and start raking in the millions.

I'm not afraid to find out that it's going to take a whole lot of work, I'm already planning on working my ass off, knowing that I can go into the red before getting into the black.

I know I'll make it, because I don't plan on failing. This info will help a ton.

I think you missed what I was trying to say.

I've been voracious in my reading. I'm convinced I'm organically growing INTO my computer chair, because I'm trying to digest everything that's being thrown at me.

What I meant was, action is money. I don't want to spend weeks trying to learn by doing nothing but reading, I'm someone who learns by doing - so I'd like to get started, so I can start learning from, and profiting from my mistakes.

I get where you're coming from, I should have realized how often this question has been asked by people who didn't want to do any work, and have everything handed to them.

I'd amend my previous post into something better-sounding, but my posts don't seem to be showing up as I make them. I'm sure this is because of my rampant newbishness.

Either way, I'll 'lurk' longer, while I continue to read up as much as I can. If anyone has any pointers or tips that I might not run across in my reading, feel free to drop them, but I'll accept the pariah hat until I put my money where my mouth is.
 
You need some monies to get started with PPC, so SEO your site for 1 month before even trying. My advice.

Thanks for the advice.

I've got some rudimentary experience with SEO that I was able to teach myself with trial and error, and a few books. My biggest question right now it choosing the right 'site' to SEO.

I've started sifting through the link posted earlier in the thread to the Treasure Trove, but what would you suggest is a good type of site/affiliate to start with?

I'd hop immediately into a high-visibility avenue, but I don't have the capitol to fight the others who're saturating it. I've found a decent niche in books and book lovers, though.

Exactly why you need monies to play with PPC.

Number 1: You have to bid high to start so you can get a good CTR. CTR being a MAJOR role in what you will be paying CPC. If you bid low, you won't even show up on the first page for the good (e.g. expensive) keywords.

Number 2: After being indexed and all that shit, you'll have a strong(er) domain to compete in PPC with, plus you'll be pulling in *free organic traffic, which is a start.

All it takes is 1 keyword and 1 offer to turn things around.
