After reading some of the offline marketing threads I've decided I definitely need to try this. I have some .coms registered with whois guard, redirecting to CPA offers. I'm thinking I'll do dating offers and skin products. I know of some good places to hit up, the mall for example. I just don't know exactly where to put my stuff. What comes to mind is exit doors, bathrooms, and outside walls that lots of people walk by, but I don't want to do anything that could get me in trouble. Anybody who's done this stuff have some do's and don'ts to share?

You know a while back there was a thread about offline marketing (a year or two ago) and a member said "Meh, I got into AM so I wouldn't have to deal with people" or something like that. Which he got severely flamed for.

I've always remembered that line mostly cause it's true. At least for me.

I did this to a small degree. When I was starting I was broke so I threw up a Acai berry Flog, printed some fliers for my weight loss story at the library and put them into newspaper boxes. Got 4 conversions ($120ish) for putting them into 3 boxes. Great $ per hour! Ballsy I know but when you're hungry....

Offline marketing can sometimes give you a lot higher ROI since people think its more legit for some reason if they find it in their daily lives instead of while browsing around the web. Either way I think a lot of people have caught onto the Acai now so not sure how well that one will work.

Ok, so today wasn't wildly successful. I didn't have a whole lot of time, so I was only able to hit up the mall. I think the staff there circulates enough to where my stuff was taken down pretty soon after it went up. Haven't seen any conversions.

The offer was for a free trial of skin cream, but not a rebill. I concentrated more on the area of the mall with related stores. I figured I'd go with one of the high payout offers cause even a few conversions could put me over $100 for the day. Any suggestions for round 2? I need a better way of doing it where people won't just take my shit down.

And no I don't plan to mess with acai. If I'm gonna get caught pushing products it's not gonna be bottles of pills. After today I've come to think that article writing doesn't deserve the title bum marketing. What I did was way more bum.

Carve your domain name in the bottom of your sandles or shoes and walk all over the beach, you do live near the beach don't you?

Newspaper boxes are a great fuckin' idea. Cheaper alternative to paying to have your ad in a paper. Auto loan offers in the car 'magazine' boxes would probably kill.

Gonna try a different offer for tomorrow. That auto loan idea sounds pretty good. I'm thinking that to get multiple fliers in the box, shuffling through the papers to stick flyers between them might look suspicious. Should I stick to one per box, or put in a stack of them?

Try going to the book store and leaving your offer in all the related books. Not to mention libraries.

I think i got that from trafficology bullshit from like 4 years ago.

Yeah I could see the auto loan and auto insurance offers killing in the newspaper boxes. The thing is around my area they are starting to use vending machine style one at a time papers instead of the old pay one time and pop it open and take them all style. Either way there are plenty of free papers in the boxes that you can throw some stuff in with just don't get caught as the police could hit you with a good fine.

Another idea is to ride around on public transportation for a few hours, leave flyers on the seats of multiple cars/busses.

So I designed an auto loan flyer today, and was going to use Walgreens' printing service, but they contacted me for copyright information. I didn't rip off the design, but I had used a random picture of a car from google image search. Maybe not the best move, should have seen that coming. So I canceled that order and printed some off myself. I also printed off a bunch of little palm-size simple text ads that I kept in my pocket.

I hit up some local libraries, general stores, and bookstores, putting the little ads into trays for used car listings, buyer's guides, magazines etc. Then I walked around downtown and put them in all the free auto newspaper boxes I could find. The fact that I could palm these ads was nice cause it looked like I was just reaching in for a paper.

I did this downtown thing after 5, so a lot of the newspaper boxes were empty or almost empty. My guess is that these get filled every morning, so my ads will probably be taken away without beeing seen by many people. Anybody know what time they get filled? Should I be wary of hitting up the same boxes multiple times?

I would say they fill them sometime between 4am-6am. This is at least around the time they come off the print for distribution. Most people get the paper at their doors by 6-6:30am in my area. I would just be careful with it because you can get some big fines for doing that and probably also sued by the newspaper company.

Nice job man! Also Fed ex Kinkos will allow copying of copy writed images - they just aren't allowed to help you. Your best bet is just printing off a ton at the library computer, only cost me a penny each.

Easiest way to get away with the news paper thing: Take out all the newspapers at once to your car/apartment then slip the paper in there. Return them later or right after they refill it.

Your momentum is great overall!

FYI: News paper ads have some of the worst ROIs in marketing today.

You might also try to stick some flyers on car windshields at a local department store.
Not sure if you could get in trouble for that, but when I still had a job I would get paid to do that.
