Google page rank

I'm new to blogging, page rank, etc, and I have a question.

I've had a site up for about a month an a half, and it still has a page rank of 0. It has gotten plenty of backlinks and I'm wondering why it still doesn't have a rank.

If anybody could point me to a guide on how page ranks work, I'd really appreciate it.

pagerank on the toolbar only updates once every couple of months. you should not worry about pagerank, unless your goal is to sell to DP idiots. then just wait it out.

Thanks. No, no plans to sell it, it's a little pet project of mine. The only reason I was concerned was because every other blogger on the Internet seems to be screaming 'PAGERANK' at the top of their lungs.

Actually, no I'm not. I could care less about my PR, I was just wondering how often it updates. Barman answered my question, and I thanked him shortly after, but since I'm a newbie my posts don't seem to go up until much later.
