As the thread title mentions, I'm as green as they get when it comes to adult. Adult doesn't operate the same way that more... family-friendly... sectors of internet marketing do. Still, I wanted to learn so I set up a blog focusing on a certain niche and started pumping out posts.

The blog is now ranked #3 in google for my primary 2-word keyphrase, and traffic has grown steadily month after month. In April, I had a little over 22k unique visitors and took in a little over $600. Not huge traffic for an adult site, but keep in mind that ALL of my traffic is coming from organic search, google image search, forum sigs, etc. I've done no exchanging or purchasing of traffic. Revenue has been growing steadily as well, though April was my best month so far.

Last night I met one of my "affiliate managers" for drinks and expressed how I was not satisfied with $600/mo. It's nice to have, but not worth working to keep. I've identified a very popular but under-served niche, and $600/mo seems like a waste of potential.

My goal is $200/day. At $30 PPS, that's about 7 sales per day.

He recommended that I convert the site to a TGP or MGP. He said that he has plenty of affiliates doing 5-figures monthly (with his program alone) using TGP/MGP sites.

While I don't doubt this, I am hesitant to blindly follow his advice. He doesn't work in marketing or promotion, and doesn't know a whole lot about teh intarwebs. Right now I've got a relatively easy $600/mo and my only expense is $10/mo for hosting. If I change the whole site around and it tanks, I just threw away $600/mo.

I know that WF has a few members who make their bones (no pun intended) with adult sites, and I was hoping someone could give me their opinion on this. Steer me in the right direction.

I know that going after organic traffic is probably a losing battle and not a long-term strategy in adult. I'm not looking to "scale" this and build 50 other blogs just like it. My chances of finding 50 other under-served niches like this one are quite slim. I think I could turn this site into a real performer, but could really use some input from anyone who has blazed this trail before me.

Why not try it?

If the niche is really under-served, get another domain name and try it with a TGP site.

Or just put it on a subdomain tgp.yourdomain.com

I figured I'd use my current site because with the traffic I already have, I at least have something to contribute to traffic trades, ya know? Granted the domain doesn't really lend itself to TGP or MGP.

I just figured you might have most the content needed for a TGP (plus a small script maybe, so you only have to edit your site and the TGP fills automagically)

Then, get $$ from both.

Too easy?

I would test a TGP with a new domain (same niche).

Remember, by using a TGP script you need lots of link (and traffic) trades to make it worthwhile. On your Blog you can focus on SEO work alone, and rank pretty good.

Just don't go for the over saturated niches.

I'm just plugging hosted galleries on my blog right now. What I figured I'd do if I set up a TGP/MGP was change the front page of the site to the TGP and leave all of the indexed blog posts where they are. Then I'd basically structure the page so that half of the galleries listed were ones that had been submitted by webmasters, and the other half were my own that just pointed to hosted galleries. Again, I admit that I have little to no idea of how this shit actually works, so this is all theoretical.

Thanks for the recommendations. My current niche isn't over-saturated. SEO and ranking for my blog have gone very well, but I think there comes a point where I have to consider that most adult surfers/consumers may not be "googling" their favorite niche to find.... material. I'd imagine that most of them have a few favorite tgps, mgps, forums or free sites that they have bookmarked.

This traffic may not convert as well, but there are only so many ways to say this "fetish" and I'm ranked in the top 3 for all of them already. Very soon I'll have just about maxed out the organic traffic potential.

Has anyone run both a blog and a tgp/mgp? Given my situation, would you switch formats as well?

I had to stop my lurking ways to tell you do not, under ANY circumstance, send your search engine traffic to a TGP of any kind. If you want to start a TGP do so without using your existing traffic, because TGP traffic is much, much worse.

The simple answer is if you are having success with blogs, make more, scale them up. TGP is a whole different animal and to be honest I don't think now is the time to start a new one.

Interesting, these words you type.

Perhaps I should learn the art of TGP on another domain first... make my mistakes on a site/domain where I have nothing to lose except $150 on scripts.

I agree TGP sites are harder to get conversions out of but I find that promoting paid to free sign up types of offers work out pretty good for most people and there traffic, however on a few sites the paid to paid sign up has done just as good as the paid to free sign ups.

My TGP types of sites (More Videos and not thumbnail gallerys) are currently getting around 1 in 40 for paid to free signups, I'm not sure how that compares to your conversions but I get $1.50 for each free join which means if you do the math and if you get close to that with your 22K of traffic you can make around $825/mo instead of $600/mo. You may want to check out the offers LoadedCash (Not my affiliate link) have to offer and test them out.

I also just recently found out how to boost up my own video traffic an extra 1,000 unique per day which is about 30,000 unique per month and I shit you not the method I employed to get that traffic didn't cost me a single penny, it took me about 2 hours in total to fully impliment and approx 2 months to see the traffic hit those levels, I'm just waiting for them to hit higher levels now and see if I can break that out into some more traffic for my other video sites.

Toss me a PM if you want to have a look at the video site I'm talking about or want to know how I got that extra 1K unique/day, I'm not going to toss out the link or the method to everyone just yet but I will share with a few people.

And to answer your question about my conversion rate, $600/mo at $30 PPS is 20 conversions, give or take. 20 conv. for 22,000 UV is about 1:1100. Keeping in mind that Google Image Search sends about twice as many visits as regular Google Web Search, this ratio isn't all that bad I suppose.
